Reviews
Nice trip! about 1hr30mnt from Sapporo to Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival. The Lake Shikotsu itself was beautiful scenery. Tour Guide Teruo was very informative and helpful. Our tour was very smooth and all the participant was on time and cooperative, although there is all lot people in our tour (50 person maybe?) because all the seat on the bus is full, reminding this is the last day of the festival..On the entrance to the festival, there is long queue because today is the last day of the festival when we were still on the bus to get to parking area, but that’s not problem, only 15 mnt, still on the schedule.
Would highly recommend! Yuki-san is a good tour operator. Don’t forget to wear gloves or bring a mask - it can get really cold especially if the wind is harsh.
Sato San was a friendly guide who told us about the region and customs. On the way we saw some deer. The festival is in a hotel next to the lake, and it was a very cold day.
Great tour! Me and my wife had a very chilling experience. I think it’s better to start your trip in the morning because afternoon trip is not enough! We haven’t tried the food around we will come back again.
This is the highlight of our Sapporo trip! It's the last day of the winter special exhibit. Will be back again herr for sure.
The arrangement and arrangement of the guide Mami made the trip go smoothly. The weather on the departure day was very favorable and the festival was worthwhile and beautiful.
This trip was convenient and efficient. The tour guide was friendly and gave explanations in English and Japanese. He also gave away some postcards and candies as souvenirs. The round trip drive to Lake Shikotsu takes about 3 hours, so the time spent at the Hyōto Festival is about 1 hour. It would be better if you can spend half an hour longer. Although the park is not large, there are many tourists, so it takes some time to visit and take pictures. Overall it is worth recommending.
The place is beautiful and both the ice sculptures and the views of the lake and the bridge are beautiful and highly recommended if you have never been.
This is basically a form of transport to the area. I prefer it than taking public transport since the location is kinda far and the weather's not ideal for waiting for the public bus. It's a must if you love a visual feast. It's super windy and cold though so be prepared. I think the instructions could be better communicated as I was a little confused on return time to the bus and had a hard time remembering where the bus was parked since I was unfamiliar with the place and it was already dark when we had to return.
tour guide Sato was very kind, informative..spoke in Jap and English. Shared some info on Hokkaido on route to Lake Shikotsu. the bus ride was 1.5hr there and back..so total travelling time was 3hrs. we spent 1h20mins at the ice festival, sufficient as the place was small.
