What to expect
This is an autumn Kyoto half-day tour departing from Kyoto Station. Take the subway and head to Okayama Canal. While walking along the canal, you can enjoy the autumn leaves and their reflections on the water. Next, you walk to the Keage Incline which is the site of an inclined railway used to transport ships. For dinner, you will enjoy Yudofu (boiled tofu), a famous Kyoto cuisine. After dinner, we will move to Eikando Temple, which is famous for its autumn leaves. You can enjoy not only Japanese temples but also the beautiful illuminated autumn leaves there. You can see the autumn leaves in a completely different atmosphere than the daytime. At the end of the tour, you will board the subway and return to Kyoto Station.

The Illuminating Tour offered stunning sights, especially the night temple, though large crowds were expected. Our tour guide was kind, but her voice could use better modulation for everyone to hear clearly. The dinner was delicious and very filling, which was much needed after all the walking—we reached nearly 20,000 steps! It’s a memorable experience, but be prepared for lots of walking.
