Beijing Mutianyu Great Wall Full-Day Exploration

This is the bestttt way to visit The Great Wall. I went with 10 family members (5 was elderly). The bus left a little late (10 mins) because we are waiting for some participants but that’s okay. The bus is comfortable, the driver was good, the tour guide Mike was very informative and fun! The journey was smooth and everything has been taken care of (the admission ticket, shuttle bus, and they also help with cable car ticket booking). Mubus has this big building for the participant and the restaurant for us to have lunch. We have 5 hours to explore and allowed to come back, and have lunch (if you paid for the lunch package). It was buffet style and the food variety was amazinggggg!! Everyone agrees they love the food. If you book this trip, you HAVE TO book the lunch! Worth every penny. It was a perfect day for us. On Saturday, August 29th, I joined an English tour with my mother and younger brother. We met at 10:00 AM at Exit C of Dongzhimen Station for a roll call, then took a bus for 1.5 to 2 hours to the Mutianyu Great Wall. Our guide, Mike, was very entertaining during the journey! It's important to note that the Klook tour fee does not include the entrance ticket to the Mutianyu Great Wall. Therefore, you will be asked to pay the entrance fee separately on the bus before arrival. Cash, Alipay, and WeChat Pay are all accepted. You can choose between the East Route or West Route (140 RMB per person), but it's often difficult to do both due to long queues for the cable car, so it's best to choose only one. You'll also be asked if you want to have the buffet lunch (80 RMB per person). Upon arrival, just after 12:00 PM, we gathered at the Mubus tourist center, where each person received their entrance ticket. After that, we had free time until 5:00 PM. I had the buffet, and it was delicious with a variety of dishes. I chose the East Route, which allows you to go up by cable car and down by toboggan. However, the toboggan line for the return trip was very long, so I ended up taking the cable car both ways. Near the Great Wall, there are several souvenir shops, and although slightly expensive, they also sell drinks and snacks. The steps of the Mutianyu Great Wall are much steeper than photos can convey; you really have to see them in person to understand. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring drinks. After meeting back at the tourist center at 5:00 PM, we took the bus back and disbanded at the same Dongzhimen Station. The total cost for one person for the day, including the Klook tour fee, the Mutianyu Great Wall entrance fee (140 RMB), and the buffet (80 RMB), came out to about 8,000 Japanese Yen. Initially, I planned to go by taxi, but since Mutianyu is about 70 kilometers from the city, joining the tour was definitely the right decision. Also, Mike, our guide, was very friendly and helpful. I'm glad I got to see the Great Wall with Mike as our guide. Thank you!

We took the Mubus tour to Mutianyu Great Wall and had a wonderful time. Our guide Jily was excellent — friendly, professional, and very organized. She explained everything clearly on the bus, including the history of the wall and practical tips. The bus was clean and comfortable, and the whole trip ran smoothly without any delays. Jily helped us with tickets, cable car, and toboggan options, so we didn't have to worry about anything. We had plenty of free time on the wall to explore and take photos. She also recommended a nice route that wasn't too crowded. After coming down, we had lunch at the Mubus restaurant — simple but tasty food with good variety. Overall, a stress-free and enjoyable day. Pleasantly surprised by the quality! Well organized. The meeting point was at a subway station, followed by bus transport. The guide explained the history of the wall and then precisely detailed how to visit it, which side to take, and how to ascend or descend. Afterward, he assisted with paying for cable car or toboggan tickets at the official price. Once there, he showed us the Mubus buildings and provided instructions. We took another bus up to the base of the wall before taking the cable car or walking. We walked a lot because we visited both sides, which is possible if you're athletic! We went up the east side by cable car to station #2, came down by toboggan in the morning, went up the west side by cable car to station #23, and came down by cable car. We visited on our own, separate from the group. Then, the Mubus buffet: good. Plan to bring food or get the buffet because you'll be starving. Kevin was a great guide, thank you!! The only minor negative point is that it takes a bit of time to get there with all the explanations and waiting for the group...

First, let me say this is my second time booking a Chinese-speaking tour, but after checking in this time, I was again assigned to an English-speaking tour. The first time I booked this Chinese-speaking tour through Klook was in March 2024. At that time, after checking in, I was also assigned to an English-speaking tour. They told me there was no Chinese-speaking tour and insisted I join the English one. Since I couldn't adjust my subsequent itinerary, I had no choice but to go along and translate for my family. This time, upon check-in, I was again told to report to the English-speaking tour. It was only after my insistence and the help of a guide named Xiao Zhou on site that I was able to join the Chinese-speaking tour. Xiao Zhou's service was excellent, from introducing the history of the Great Wall and Beijing, all the way to how to best experience the Great Wall, including the advantages of the East and West sections and must-see attractions. Thanks to Xiao Zhou's introduction, we were able to explore both the East and West sections in one go and had an incredibly fun and exciting toboggan ride! He also helped us maximize our time effectively – no need to return on the original vehicle; we could get back to the Mutianyu Bus Tourist Center before 5 PM. For us, as tourists who have visited the Great Wall twice (and possibly for the last time), this was truly a fantastic trip!! Thank you, Xiao Zhou, for helping us stay with the Chinese-speaking group and for frequently appearing on the bus and at attractions to guide us!! I highly recommend everyone participate in Mutianyu Bus's activities!!! And Klook, please make sure to clarify how Chinese-speaking tours are displayed on the travel agency's end!

Mubus made the experience at the Great Wall really smooth and hassle free. We went on the last day of a long weekend and luckily didn't get any bad traffic and was blessed with perfect blue skies. We hiked both the West and East routes but missed out on the toboggan slide due to the long lines. Our tour guide Mike shared some really interesting facts and stories about the Great Wall on the ride there. The cable and toboggan fares are not included. After you get your tickets, it's a self-guided tour so make sure you listen to your tour guides instructions. Mike was still around to help people out at various locations. The buffet was a welcoming meal after 4 hours of hiking. There were plenty of options to choose from (both Western and Eastern cuisine).

I had an amazing experience visiting Mutianyu Great Wall with Mubus. It was such a cold and sunny day, and spring was definitely in the air. We departed from Dongzhimen at 10:00, and the bus ride was convenient and relaxing. Klook won't have the option of entering Hong Kong Macau Residents Card (HKMRC). So we had to use our passport. That means we will miss out on the senior discount enjoyed by HKMRC. Amelia was very caring and went out of her way to manually altered our entry details. My wife was very happy with the extra CNY 40. As we are over 60, we can't go downhill by toboggan so we explored the western part and reached Tower 20, where the view was breathtaking. The Great Wall is absolutely spectacular. Guide Amelia was knowledgeable and helpful. Her explanations were detailed, and her English was excellent. She kindly assisted us with buying cable car tickets, saving us a lot of time. She is a valuable asset of Mubus. I truly recommend Mubus for a great Great Wall tour.

The Mubus Great Wall tour was truly delightful. The departure location at Dongzhimen subway station was extremely accessible — just steps from the exit. We started at 10:00 am and had a direct, non‑stop ride to the Wall, which lasted about 1.5 hours. Our guide Helly was wonderful, offering practical suggestions to help us make the most of our time and energy. The weather was ideal for outdoor activities, and the Great Wall offered spectacular views. Crowds were minimal as it is a low season now, allowing for a peaceful and comfortable visit. This season is clearly the perfect time to go. A great experience overall! We manage to make it to the tower 20 (the highest one) after much sweat and sore knees haha~ worth it really.
