What to expect
- Itinerary Introduction -
- Sake Brewery Tour Visit a historic sake brewery in Nagano to gain a deep understanding of the traditional sake brewing process, admire the ancient brewery buildings and equipment, and experience the unique charm and historical heritage of Japanese sake culture. Travelers interested in culture, history, or artisanal brewing techniques will all have an unforgettable experience here.
- Togakushi Shrine Journey deep into the mountains of Nagano to Togakushi Shrine, known as one of “Japan’s Three Great Sacred Places.” With over two thousand years of history, the five interconnected shrines create a serene and solemn sacred area. The ancient cedar trees lining the Okusha Sando (approach to the inner shrine) are particularly striking, offering a powerful and moving experience.
- Jigokudani Monkey Park Located in the Joshin’etsu Kogen National Park in northern Nagano, at the foot of Shiga Kogen at an altitude of 850 meters, the area is covered in snow for about one-third of the year. Due to geothermal activity, steam and hot spring water emerge from underground, and the surrounding high mountains and steaming landscape give it the name “Jigokudani” (Hell Valley). Monkeys have lived freely in this natural environment since ancient times. In the harsh winters of Jigokudani, soaking in hot springs has become a way for the monkeys to withstand the cold. Since its opening in 1964, the Monkey Park has been a place where visitors can observe the monkeys’ ecology up close. The sight of the adorable monkeys soaking in the hot springs is heartwarming and has become a hot topic reported by various media, attracting tourists and photographers from all over the world.
- Zenko-ji Temple Zenko-ji Temple, with over 1,400 years of history, is Nagano’s most representative national treasure-level temple, revered as a “sacred place that must be visited once in a lifetime.” Its magnificent wooden main hall and the mysterious “Kaidan Meguri” (underground passage tour) attract countless worshippers. After visiting, you can also enjoy Shinshu soba noodles and specialty snacks on the approach road, experiencing the charm of history and culture intertwined.

Reviews
The trip was super nice. It still pushed through even though we're only 5 in the group. The pacing just feels right for both the snow monkey and the shrines. Helen, our tour guide, was also very accommodating and friendly.
The organization is excellent, punctual, and respectful. Our guide gave us explanations in English (we were traveling from Mexico 🇲🇽) and also in Mandarin. The transportation is comfortable and clean, so you can rest a bit between transfers. The tour is demanding, lots of walking, but that's specified from the beginning. The places we visited were wonderful.
The tour was amazing and I enjoyed every bit of it. There will be a lot of walking but the view is worth it. Our tour guide Pin is great in telling the history, guiding us, nice and very considerate. Thank you for a wonderful tour. 🙂
This tour was perfect, as I was looking for something that combined the Snow Monkey Park and Togakushi Shrine. It helped me save an entire day on my trip, since it would have been difficult to see both in one day by myself. I am very happy that I booked this tour, as I witnessed some of the most beautiful scenery on my Japan trip. Our guide, Li-Yu Feng, was incredibly helpful and kind, and she explained everything to us in great detail. I highly recommend this tour to anyone!
This Nagano day trip was incredibly packed and complete, offering a perfect blend of nature, culture, and local experiences. Visiting the serene Togakushi Shrine and seeing the snow monkeys up close at Jigokudani Monkey Park were absolute highlights. What truly made the tour exceptional was our guide’s consistently positive attitude, professionalism, and clear time management, which kept the day enjoyable and stress-free. Because all participants were respectful of the designated meetup times, we avoided unnecessary waiting and were able to fit in the sake culture experience, which added even more value to an already full itinerary. Overall, it was a well-organized, smooth, and rewarding tour that made the most out of a single day in Nagano.
The tour was comfortable and paced just right, it didn’t feel rushed at all to us. And our tour guide, Carp is extremely welcoming and open to any of our enquiries. Had lots of fun on this tour and would highly recommend it for anyone who is interested. :)
This was a truly excellent tour from start to finish. The itinerary was very well planned, with beautiful locations and first-class infrastructure everywhere we went. Everything ran smoothly and comfortably. The buses were extremely comfortable, which made a big difference throughout the day, and the overall organization was impeccable. A very special highlight was our guide, Carp. She was exceptionally kind, attentive, and always available, making sure everyone felt welcome and well taken care of. Her friendliness, warmth, and genuine hospitality really elevated the experience and made the tour even more enjoyable. Highly recommended — a wonderful experience thanks to great organization and an outstanding guide.
An amazing tour with a super knowledgeable and friendly guide! There are some parts where you need to walk a bit, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. When we went, it was snowing—it made the whole experience even more magical! Absolutely recommended.
Collin was an amazing guide! He is super knowledgeable, accomodating and took us through a beautiful journey of Nagano’s Japanese history and culture. We also covered all of our top spots in this tour and had the best time exploring! highly recommend to anyone travelling first time to Japan and to Nagano.
The tour guide was friendly, and the itinerary was packed! There were so many snow monkeys, completely unafraid of people. We were also lucky enough to catch them at feeding time, which was lively. However, the snow made walking quite tiring, and some people slipped. If you participate in winter, be sure to wear shoes with good traction and that are waterproof. Because walking was difficult that day, it took longer, and no one had much time to eat. Fortunately, the tour guide made a special stop at a convenience store so everyone could replenish their energy, which was very thoughtful. The afternoon visit to Togakushi Shrine may be difficult for the elderly to climb to the top, but I still recommend going down to walk around. The straight and solemn avenue of sacred trees is great for taking pictures. The sake brewery tour at the end was also very interesting. The staff inside were very friendly, and you can personally sample various sakes and learn about the sake-making process. It wasn't just a superficial tour, and I felt like I got a deeper understanding of Japanese culture. Overall, it was a very worthwhile and wonderful day trip!
