Shanghai Yu Garden Hanfu Photography Experience

We arrived almost an hour late due to unforeseen circumstances but they still waited for us and were so accommodating! The makeup artist Oda was absolutely phenomenal... I've never felt prettier in my life! I was in awe at the makeup, my face was perfectly accentuated. He took into account the fact that I did not wish to look like a ghost. I loved the whole experience so much I used the same makeup to take pictures at the Bund! The hair by Amy was perfect too, the jewelry and accessories complemented each other impeccably. I just got the Hanfu experience, the coat for ¥60 and used my own camera to take photos at YuYuan garden. This has been my absolute favourite experience in Shanghai so far!! I'd highly recommend going ~~

we arrived late as we didn’t expect the changjng of hanfu and makeup was in a house. male makeup artist was gentle and patience, lady makeup artist wasnt that friendly. their hanfu was really nice though.

the makeup and hair artists are really good and all the staff are friendly. they will make sure that you will look your best and that you will enjoy your entire experience. very thankful to everyone who helped me achieve the ethereal look that i was hoping for. they are the best and 100/100 i’ do this again!

Highly recommend this place! The staff are all very kind and skilled at their jobs. You have to enter an apartment building to locate the place and I was a bit unsure at first but the skill of the staff totally blew me away! You can choose from photos which style of hanfu/hair/makeup you want and I chose a pink summer hanfu. The makeup and hair are both extremely detailed and they are able to get it done in just an hour. The photographer was very nice and helpful in teaching poses and they let you select which photos you want edited. We went to the nearby Yuyuan Garden and you need to pay to get in but it is very worth it. Even though there were a lot of people, the photographer will make sure they can't be seen. You will need Wechat or Whatsapp to set up arrival time but communication is pretty easy. The edited photos are sent to you around a week after through Wechat but the unedited photos are still very beautiful! Highly recommend this to people who want a quality hanfu experience!

The photographer was great at creating a lively atmosphere, always capturing our most natural expressions, and quickly completed the outdoor shoot. We were able to showcase different styles in different settings, even shooting on the streets, which added a dual layer of historical and modern interest – truly unforgettable. The best part of this trip to Shanghai was these beautiful photos that even we couldn't help but admire. If you dream of transforming into an ancient beauty, this is the perfect choice for you.

Helpful instructions in finding the location. Nice selection of costumes and the makeup artist did a great job on my makeup. The photographer was super helpful since I’m so bad at posing ahahha. Great value for money.

This photography experience in Shanghai was absolutely flawless. The entire process was very smooth and convenient. After confirming the booking, they sent clear studio directions, and the location was in a very convenient and comfortable apartment. Every detail surprised me. The clothing selection was exquisite, and the makeup artist, Xiaotian, was also superb. But the most outstanding was definitely our photographer, Jake! He's not only highly skilled but also especially funny! He had me laughing the whole time, and this relaxed atmosphere made me feel very comfortable and confident. I felt like a supermodel! He professionally guided every pose and was incredibly talented. His photography skills are also outstanding. We shot in a crowded garden, but Jake has the unique eye of a photographer—he always knows when to seize the best opportunity to find the perfect angle, and the photos made it seem like the entire garden belonged only to us. The most surprising thing was how great the finished photos were; I couldn't pick out my favorite! In the end, I had to choose the unlimited package because every photo was a treasure. I absolutely love this style and can't wait to try another one. This is definitely the only photography studio I trust in Shanghai!

I'd booked four sets for myself and my three kids. Even though they were attending to many customers that day, the make-up artists stayed very focused and did a lovely job for all of us. We had two photographers assigned to our group of four, and the photos especially for us ladies turned out so well that we struggled to narrow them down to just six each. Just to note: the address is not a shop inside Yuyuan. It’s actually an apartment located about eight minutes from Cheng Huang Temple. With Amap and seller's heads up message,, it was pretty easy for us to find the place. experience: Excellent Overall, kudos to the whole team for making it such an enjoyable experience.

An amazing experience. Can be difficult to find as its inside the apartment complex. Hair, makeup, and dress takes about 2 hours, the attention to detail and care was amazing. The photoshoot tooks about an hour, the direction the phototgrapher gives is clear and makes for extremely pretty pictures. It's almost impossible to choose between them all!

Absolutely perfect experience! The whole team was kind and professional, and the photographer was fantastic. After seeing many other studios, we can confidently say their outfits are by far the most beautiful, and the value for money is unbeatable. We are thrilled with the final results. A small point to be aware of: the 30 "raw" photos include the raw versions of the edited photos as well, which can be a little confusing at first. Just keep that in mind when choosing your pictures. The team was very accommodating with our shooting time and everything else. They don't speak English, but they communicate efficiently using a phone translator. If you have light-colored hair, make sure to tell them you want to keep your natural hair color in the edited photos, as they use black extensions and edit the hair to black by default. Also, if you want photos in a garden, remember that additional entrance tickets is required for the staff and photographer. We highly recommend this studio !
