What to expect

From lake views to mountain scenery, this is a healing one-day trip to Omi and Kyoto, where time slows down and landscapes are captured through the lens 🌊⛰️.

  • In the early morning, approach Lake Biwa, where the torii gate of Shirahige Shrine stands quietly on the water's surface ⛩️. The lake water changes color with the light and shadows, and distant fishing boats slowly glide by, as if only a stretch of water separates humans from deities. There is no hustle and bustle here, only the wind, the lake, and the ever-changing sky, making it a perfect place for photography and daydreaming 📸.
  • Afterwards, take the cable car up to Biwako Terrace (Seasonal: May 1 - November 23, 2026; December 19 - March 21 of the following year; during maintenance closures: June 29 - July 3; September 7 - September 11; November 24 - December 18, visit Sanzen-in). In just a few minutes, the view ascends from the forest to a vast lake panorama, with Lake Biwa unfolding 360 degrees beneath your feet ✨. The lakeside terrace, cafes, and the sky merge into one, making it one of the most popular scenes on Instagram. If time permits, you can also experience zip-lining or simply take a stroll, feeling the wind and freedom from above.
  • Sanzen-in (Seasonal: Visit on other dates/when the cable car is temporarily closed) is like a hidden gem gently enveloped by time 🍃. Moss covers the garden, streams murmur, and each season offers a different scenery, yet it remains consistently quiet. There’s no need to rush with photos here; it’s only suitable for slow walks and leisurely viewing, allowing your mind to settle down.
  • Returning to the shores of Lake Biwa, Mangetsu-ji Ukimido quietly "floats" on the water's surface 🕊️. The small Buddhist hall at the end of the stone bridge reflects in the lake, offering beauty at dawn and dusk, imbued with the ancient charm of the Eight Views of Omi.
  • Finally, arrive at La Collina Omihachiman 🌿. The grass-roofed buildings blend with the hills, like stepping into a fairy tale world. The aroma of freshly baked baumkuchen fills the air, adding a gentle sweetness to the journey.

* As the lake surface calms and the mountain colors soften, this day, intertwined with nature and design, leaves behind a perfectly balanced aftertaste.

Visit Lakeside Shrine and Zen Ancient Temple, take a cable car to view the scenery or practice quiet meditation at Moss Temple, explore the Buddhist hall on the lake and the popular dessert village, and gain plenty of beautiful scenery and delicious food.

Great weather all day. Got to see some beautiful sights, though if I'd known Biwako Valley would be so cold up there, I would've brought my jacket. Anyways thank you for being patient with me. seemed like I was the naughty one in this group tour😅and I really appreciate the guide Peter for taking photos, it meant a lot to us which is why I give 5 stars. 很好的天气,也看到了一些美丽的景色。还有很感谢导游Peter帮我们拍照,真的很高兴。

The tour guide sent an email beforehand with detailed pick-up locations and provided very clear contact information. However, this tour is simply a shuttle service to various attractions without any guided commentary. It's advisable to do your own research beforehand to understand the background stories of the places you visit. The tour guide spoke Chinese, so communication was very smooth. However, it might be more challenging for non-Chinese speakers, as they might not fully understand what's happening if there are any itinerary changes due to real-time circumstances. I'm very grateful to our tour guide, Yoyo, for promptly assisting me when I realized my phone battery was low and I had forgotten my charging equipment.

Lucky to have met a great tour guide - Guo Yaping ❤️ The tour guide is very friendly and responds quickly to any questions! She also seriously introduces the attractions and what's good to eat and fun to do 🥰 I always thought Sanzen-in Temple was too far, and I hadn't been there in five trips to Kyoto, but I finally got to go on this Klook tour and I really liked it 🤩 I recommend it to everyone! I hope everyone is lucky enough to meet my tour guide 💕

I booked this tour two days before departure and had a great experience. Our driver and guide, Nicklee, was very responsible and attentive. He picked us up and dropped us off, and also explained the local Japanese culture and tourist attractions along the way. He was kind and friendly, thoughtfully provided water, and took care of everyone.

Today was a perfect day—the weather was on our side :)—and our guide, Roman, did a great job explaining the history to us. He was also really friendly, of course, and even helped us take photos, especially those of us traveling alone, like me. I really highly recommend booking this guide, especially since there weren’t many tourists there, which was also perfect :)

This was a very fulfilling and complete itinerary. We're so grateful to our driver and guide, Zhang Yong, for his warm hospitality and thoughtful care for our needs! Our family of four, including my mother-in-law and a two-year-old baby, were able to complete the trip smoothly, and the baby had a wonderful time. Highly recommended!
