What to expect
Everyone has a favorite food that evokes feelings of nostalgia. For Chongqing locals, that food is hot pot – not the trendy restaurants, but the old-fashioned flavors passed down through generations near their homes. In this experience, I will take you to appreciate the beautiful scenery of Chongqing and taste the authentic "jianghu" (street-style) hot pot that locals love.
There is an old Chinese saying: "The whole day depends on a good start in the morning." Our culinary journey will start with breakfast. In the morning, we will begin our day with a bowl of authentic Chongqing noodles. Chongqing is known as an 8D city because its urban construction and unique architectural style create a magical sensory experience. I will take you through some very distinctive neighborhoods to experience the local lifestyle. You will feel our unrestrained attitude towards life and our leisurely pace. As noon approaches, we will go to a hot pot restaurant hidden in a residential building. For Chongqing locals, who have very high standards for taste, a hot pot restaurant that has been open for more than 20 years is a rare find.
Note: During the experience, I will use my phone to take photos for you to capture the memories. The number of photos is not fixed, and there is no charge.
Experience Flow:
09:30 We will meet at Lianglukou for breakfast (authentic Chongqing noodles); Around 10:30, we will start exploring this fantastic and friendly city on foot with full of energy. I will take you through some neighborhoods; Around 12:30, I will take you to a mysterious hot pot restaurant that carries 20 years of Chongqing’s memory. We had a memorable time on our tour with Panda. She expertly guided us through Chongqing, allowing us to see its traditional and modern architecture, learn about its history, and indulge in the local food scene. Panda's personal touch, including taking beautiful photos of us, made our tour truly special. Thank you, Panda, for sharing your home with us! We highly recommend this tour.
I had a really lovely and interesting day. thank you so much for showing me around, I highly recommend it to everyone. I would have never seen many of Chongqings hidden spots without this tour🥰
I've already recommended this tour to my friend. if you are in Chongqing I highly recommend it!!!! I already went to more viral spots so she tailored the tour to places I haven't been yet. Everything was a good pace. She also took wonderful photos of me. Panda is an amazing guide!
I really recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get to know the real CQ like a local. The guide was very passionate about her city and took me to the less well known spots to experience it. She’s also knowledgable enough that she’s able to adapt the tour with reasonable requests. Simialraly the places she took me for breakfast and lunch weee local spots I would never have found on my own. If you like seeing the real side of a city, great food and good company take this tour.
Panda and her colleuge Cathy, were both very wonderful tourguides! They spoke fluent english and brought us to key points of the city while also explaining the rich history. They also helped us with other things that required chinese and were always available on wechat. The food they brought us to were also delicious and well loved spots by locals
The city walk was thoroughly enjoyable as it took us through the old lanes and alleys that tourists generally avoided, giving us intimate glimpses into how the old and traditional co-exists with the new and shining. Cathy, our guide, was friendly, approachable and patient as we trudge slowly up and down the many slopes of this city.
we had an absolutely wonderful day with our tour guide aka Panda. She was lovely and knew the local places to have amazing food. We would book this tour again for sure
It was a great introduction to Chongqing! We went with Jingxi, who showed us around like a local. We ate at a neighborhood restaurant, explored some popular tourist spots, enjoyed an authentic hotpot lunch, and wrapped up the tour at Liziba Station. The whole experience took about 4 hours and was a fun, easy way to get to know the city. Highly recommend!
Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to eat like a local and understand the soul of the city. Perfect balance of food, culture, and conversation.
I am disappointed Panda wasnt forthcoming that she wasn’t the one who will tour us up to the minute we were chatting with her that we were already on our way to the meeting point. I have booked this 4 months ahead of the trip and was looking forward to it. It was the substitute’s first time to guide and while he was super nice, kind and takes great photos, he unfortunately had a hard time with english and we communicated a lot thru translation app. He also didn’t provide any info or stories on chongqing or the places we went to which for me are just as important in a tour. But he was a really nice person; and the places in the city are interesting and the food’s good so it was still worthwhile..
