Wufeng Lin Family Garden is not only an important cultural site in Taichung, but also a witness to Taiwan’s history. It has unique historical characteristics. The architectural style and layout of the Yipu profoundly reflect the local historical and cultural context. It not only has important educational significance for history lovers and architectural scholars, but also allows tourists to learn more about Taiwan's past through visiting. The summer palace can also become a place that brings people together, allowing family and social members to enhance their connections with each other while exploring history together, thereby stimulating recognition and love for local culture.
It’s worth it and I recommend it to everyone who wants to visit. Pair it with a commentator if possible, and it will definitely impress you. The history, culture, background, and architectural integrity it represents are all very high. Maybe the younger generation may just visit and take photos. As a middle-aged and middle-aged person, I had a lot of feelings and came here with the perspective of learning and understanding Taiwanese culture. really good
You can see the complete history of the Lin family in Wufeng from the Japanese colonial period to the early years of the Republic of China. You can purchase an additional 50 yuan tour guide on site. The tour guide will lead visitors to the viewing platform opposite to overlook the entire Lin family in Wufeng. There are generally people in the venue. There is air conditioning, which is a great deal in summer.
must visit and don't do it without a docent!!! allow 1.5 hours. warning: there are actually 3 separate family facilities right next to each other that you xan visit. each has different policies with the one on the farthest north requiring 7-day advanced reservation only.
The explanations are very exciting, the venue is kept clean, and the circulation is well planned. It is very suitable for visiting and learning about the past history and the Lin family story.
Despite the thunderstorm, the tour guide still introduced enthusiastically. There are many cultural beauties and interesting institutions hidden in the monuments. It is recommended to visit here:)
You can take your children to learn about the historical sites, which is great! It’s just that the park is relatively small
This provider's listing is a scam and misleading!!!! I originally went to Google map and wanted to visit this place: https://maps.app.goo.gl/NKtnKbB9iFUWbgyX9?g_st=ic. BUT the Klook listing on this map links to a DIFFERENT DESTINATION which is next door. I was mis-led to believe I'm buying ticket for https://maps.app.goo.gl/NKtnKbB9iFUWbgyX9?g_st=ic bc the names of 2 places are very very similar. My BIGGEST COMPLAINT is that the service provider listed the wrong link on the WRONG GOOGLE MAP page!!! I demand a refund for my booking! You can see my screen recording price what I stated and see how mis leading it is!

Guide

  • National Historic Site - A blend of Chinese, Western, and Japanese architectural styles, a century of splendor since its construction in 1914.
  • Escape mirror secret room & escape secret passage, used during the county magistrate's martial law period.
  • Guided tour to learn about the Lin Family's main residence during the Japanese colonial period, ascend to the Yipu Museum observation deck to view the entire Lin Family Garden.

The Wufeng Lin Family Yipu Garden was first built in 1906 and completed in 1914. It is a hybrid Chinese-Western-Japanese style building constructed during the Japanese colonial period, and it is the last piece of the Lin Family's ancient architectural complex, now over a century old. Initially, it served as a pleasure ground for Mr. Lin Ji-tang (1874-1922), with a granary and accounting office in the front yard; the backyard had a zoo, housing exotic animals purchased from Tokyo, making it a must-visit attraction for Japanese tourists coming to Taichung at the time. Yipu was also a Western-style garden where Mr. Lin Hsien-tang held Yixin Society meetings and tea parties.

In 1951, Mr. Lin He-nian (1914-1994), the first democratically elected Taichung County Magistrate and the fourth son of Mr. Lin Ji-tang, converted this place into a county government consultation reception center, becoming the origin of the Red Faction in Taichung's political arena.

The current owner of Yipu, Lin Zhen-ting (1953~), is a descendant of Mr. Lin Lie-tang (1876~1947). He is passionate about art and humanities and is dedicated to promoting them. In addition to collecting and exhibiting works by renowned artists, he also frequently collaborates with emerging artists for exhibitions. Yipu Garden and Yipu Museum are among the excellent venues for such exhibitions. While preserving historical relics, they also possess a richer artistic atmosphere, injecting new vitality into this ancient settlement in the new era.
