very interactive zoo where you can feed or pet the animals, generally easy to get to as the station is right in front of the building! most parts of the zoo is indoor which is comforting during the colder days.
I bought my ticket from Klook on the day of my departure for the zoo. I received an invoice immediately after purchase, which was very convenient. Upon entry, I just showed the staff the QR code to scan, and the process was smooth. The day we visited was a weekday, Tuesday, so there weren't many people. There were Japanese locals, and I heard quite a few mainland tourists (unexpected!). The park is divided into different areas, like African Wetland/Pantanal/big bill and other different eco-park categories. , so that you can clearly know the different animal species. What I like most about this zoo is that you can have close contact with animals. For example, the ring-tailed lemurs are allowed to move freely without being trapped in cages. People can just watch them. This is the first time I have this experience. Experience and feel them comfortable and happy! The most popular one must be the Capybara. When the weather is cold, you can soak them in a warm water pool, which is very healing. You can buy grass to feed them, and their silly look is very cute! But because most of the park is an open-air outdoor environment, you must keep warm in winter! Overall, the experience was very satisfactory, the staff were polite, the environment was clean, and finally, eating in the restaurant in the park was also good and the price was not expensive! Highly recommended!
Nice animal kingdom with both an indoor and outdoor area. There are interactive zones where you can interact with cats, dogs and rabbits. There is ample food options available too. Can reach the animal kingdom conveniently by train. Highly recommended.
We ended up spending 3 hours total here, but easily could had been the whole day. So many cute animals and such well maintained zoo all around. We visited on a Friday and it was a bit hectic in the morning because many local schools were visiting. We had to go back to the Capybaras area in the afternoon for a chance to feed them. It was such a unique experience along with seeing the cute red pandas, anteater, kangeroos and the fluffy bunnies. Take the Port Liner line from Sannomiya Station towards Kobe Airport. It's a bit confusing for the line transfer so just ask the workers for directions.
I loved it! Being able to touch the capybaras and other animals is excellent, the food is delicious, if you go after noon it is better to wait a while to see the capybaras because they may have been fed before and will not want to get close.
So many animals and such a beautiful zoo! Saw a lot of animals I've never seen before and got to be so close to some of them. The rabbits and capybara were especially adorable. I also didnt excpect camels to be so huge! Awesome experience. Lots of kids though so a little noisy but It's nice they're learning haha.
This place is so underrated. First time going to Kobe so I googled for the top attractions there. This Kobe Animal Kingdom pops up at the top and it really did not disappoint and greatly surpassed my expectations! I bought the tickets via klook right at the Zoo Entrance. The e vouchers was given few seconds after payment, it was so efficient and redemption was fuss free. The place was amazing, as we can interact and even feed and/or touch some of them at close proximity. The food for feeding only cost 100 Yen which was so affordable! We get to feed ducks, birds, fishes, camel, sheep's etc. Animals were roaming around near us (at our feet area) with staff supervision. They looked well taken care of. Such a amazing experience, very different from other zoos. There's also a 10 mins petting session (on first come first served, limited time slots), we get to touch and pet dogs and cats. The dogs and cats were so tamed, gentle and did not shy away or try to avoid our touch like other pet cafes. Their fur were so soft to touch, this means they have been given high quality food and take great care of. There's also a feeding session of rabbits. ❤️ I would recommend people to come visit this place!
It was a really accessible place. We, as 2 adults, had so much fun here. The animals were all reachable and everyone looks healthy. The zookeepers are attentive of the wellbeing of the animals and interactions are not forced and only if the animals allow. The flow and layout of the zoo will not get you bored. This is definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
it was such a fun zoo to go to! I’ve never been to any zoo like this where you can interact with animals and see them up close. I would say… some of the enclosures are super small for the animals 😔 they have almost no space to roam freely and I saw a lot of them pacing back and forth in the small space. I felt bad for them 😭
Awesome way to spend a couple hours in the Kobe area. There’s a petting area for cats/dogs and a separate enclosure for rabbits/guinea pigs. You can see the animals from a very close distance. And even some snimals without any barrier/window/screen like the sloths, red pandas, owls, etc. There are paid feeding areas for most of the outdoor park animals like the kangaroos, deer, capybaras, sheep, etc. And the coolest thing was that we even got to hold an owl for a photo (with a protective glove and a small fee).
