It was a great experience! Perfect organization and tasty food! The transportation wasn’t safe at all — they picked me up in a van with bench seats in the open back, so you should be prepared for that. Toye (the guide) is a very polite and charismatic person. She explained to us about Thai spices and herbs in addition to the cooking class. Her English is excellent.
Four of us booked together and we had a terrific time. We were paired with four other travelers and it was a nice group. Wave did a great job of making sure everything ran on time, that we were having a good time, and that all of our questions about Thai cuisine were answered. We appreciated the efficient pick up from our hotel, the stop at the market where Thai ingredients were explained to us, and then our experience at the cooking school. we had a great time and would highly recommend this experience to others!
What an incredible experience! Our guide Toey was OUTSTANDING! After getting picked up at our hotel, Toey took us to a local market to explain some of the ingredients we’d be cooking with. Afterwards we headed to the school to start cooking! Toey was funny, kind and gave us just the right amount of instructions. She effortlessly guided us all despite most of us cooking different dishes. We ate in 2 different courses, giving us breaks to cool off as it’s an outdoor kitchen! The space is beautiful and runs like a well oiled machine. My mother and I had an amazing time and couldn’t think of anything negative to say. We would highly recommend to anyone interested in learning traditional Thai cuisine! Also incredible value for money. 10/10!
Location: Relatively close to the city center, in a residential building, with several classes running simultaneously. Instructor: The teacher's pronunciation is clear, and I can understand most of the basic vocabulary. Experience: The vegetable and spice recognition part wasn't challenging for me. The cooking pace was quite fast, with little room for personal creativity. Also, what I made didn't taste very good. Safety: Basically safe, the teacher keeps an eye on everyone's cooking heat. Equipment: The equipment is all relatively new, with a small courtyard in a family kitchen style. Experience: This is relatively inexpensive, and the service is good. They are responsive in email communication and can even take you to the vicinity of the Old City after the class, but the cooking is really tiring.
Thank you Tu for picking us up at the guesthouse. After getting in the car, we arrived at the colorful local market. We learned a lot about herbs and ingredients. I really like natural ingredients. Back at the cooking class, we cooked in two stages and ate very full. I suggest coming next time without eating lunch 🤣. Learning to cook Thai food in English was very interesting, and I also met friends from Australia and Germany. We made three dishes and one dessert. I really liked the mango sticky rice at the end. Thank you for this fun half-day experience, I really enjoyed it. The cooking class process was very smooth. The bathroom door lock seems to be broken, but it doesn't affect anything.
For a Thai cooking class, this is probably not the most popular one, but definitely one of the best. If you’re Taiwanese and feel comfortable with none mandarin class, choose this. You won’t regret.
It was a well worth cooking session. My mum and teenager were able to made Khao soi (northern curry noodles), sour curry, pad thai noodles, fried rice. Instructions given were simple and straight forward. the instructor, Balloon, was humorous and made the whole cooking session to be relax and joyous. the tour to the local market was great experience. the tour to the cottage garden was eye opening as instructor explained and let them touch and smell the various plants and herbs to be use for cooking. arrangement for free transport to and fro from our preferred locations was fast and updated consistently. we will choose to join again next year when we visit Chiangmai.
A very interesting experience, you can learn how Thai cuisine sauces are made. Glutinous rice needs to be boiled and steamed for several hours to become soft and chewy. There are also ingredients grown in the garden. The beautiful color of the butterfly pea flower can be used to dye the rice. Thai cuisine is all about the sauce, so I learned a lot this time. But because I was the only Chinese person, I couldn't understand 90% of the English, which also meant I missed the opportunity to make friends…
I hade really fun time learning to cook some nice Thai dishes! We were a small group of 7 people, everything went good with the pick up as well. I recommend
Tnis was a great experience and if you like to cook than this will be fun for you!
