Things to do in Cairns

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Daintree Rainforest and Mossman Gorge with Ben. He was incredibly knowledgeable about every place we visited, and his explanations added so much depth to the experience. Ben was professional, well organised and genuinely friendly throughout the day, which made the tour feel relaxed and enjoyable. The scenery was absolutely magnificent, and Ben’s guidance helped us appreciate it even more. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide — highly recommended.

We joined the stargazing tour and really enjoyed it. Stargazing depends a lot on luck and weather, so we were very grateful that the conditions were good on the night we went. The experience felt really special because it was so dark at the location that we could only see the silhouettes of the trees, with the distant brightness coming from Cairns city. Lying on a picnic mat under the open sky and looking up at what felt like countless stars was such a peaceful and unforgettable moment. Our guide was very passionate and knowledgeable, which made the tour even better. He shared useful tips on how to take photos of the stars, lent us his binoculars, and pointed out different stars and constellations, especially Scorpio. He also showed us the Milky Way, which was amazing to see. It was a very meaningful experience and something different from the usual sightseeing activities in Cairns. I recommend it if you enjoy nature, quiet moments, and learning more about the night sky.

Wonderful experience! Well ogranized for over 100 passsengers, from safety, seating, equipment to lunch and afternoon tea. Great for our first time snorkelling, and staff were friendly. unfortunately, the helicopter was cancelled due to the weather but everything else was good. Even though we got really seasick (although we took tablets), it was totally worth it!

Sea was choppy and many got seasick to the first reef. The staff from Evolution were friendly and professional in their role and how they handle the seasick situation. Activities like snokelling and diving were conducted safely and professionally. Staff that were not involved in the sea activities but were on deck were also keeping a look out at the activities. Lunch "looks" delicious but were too seasick to enjoy. Thumbs up and highly recommended.

I went on a snorkeling tour. It included boat transportation to and from the island, snorkeling gear rental on the island, and access to showers and a swimming pool there. For lunch, I had Thai food that I bought at the night market the day before. The snorkeling was truly wonderful. The water was very shallow, with lots of coral, and I saw turtles, stingrays, sharks, giant clams, and lionfish. There were many other fish as well. It was a bit cold due to the strong wind and lower water temperature, but I was able to warm up again on the sandy beach.

We had a wonderful experience on the Kuranda Scenic Railway! The journey was relaxing and enjoyable, and it was a great way to take in the beautiful surroundings and experience a piece of Queensland’s history. The train ride itself was very charming and made the trip to Kuranda feel extra special. There was some construction along parts of the route that affected a few of the scenic views, but overall, we still had a lovely time and really enjoyed the experience. Definitely a memorable activity and something I would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

the sea turtle hospital is very educational and worthwhile to go

View of Daintree rainforest from the sky. we switched to 2-way Cable car as the return train ride was pretty late and we were staying at Port Douglas. There were 3 stops and we could see Baron Falls plus walk around the Kurang Village.
