It's convenient to get there by JR train or bus. There are many interesting activities at each point inside, and street performances happen periodically. There are several photo zones. Overall, I was impressed with the place. Plus, by booking through Klook, you can scan the QR code for direct entry, without needing to exchange a voucher at the counter again.

we were able to find this shop fairly easily with an A-frame sign at the entrance. The area is a shared space with a few other craft workshops as well. There’s a restroom you can use once you are up the stairs. Elvie was our instructor. She gave very good instructions and demonstrations as well as helped with some finishing touches to our chopsticks. They have several types of wood you can upgrade to ranging from 4000 to 8000 yen. There are 3 types that we got to choose from that were already included with the price. I chose the Taiwan Cypress and my brother chose Hinoki. We opted for the optional laser engraving for an additional 1000 yen and it was well worth it! Such a great experience! a lovely souvenir to take back home. I will for sure be using them!

One of the best things we did on our trip!! Everything is provided which is amazing and the staff are very friendly and helpful! The route is beautiful and the rapids are not so extreme. If you're thinking about booking, I would highly highly reccommend it!!

We participated in the "Custom Japanese Knife Making Workshop in Arashiyama" and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Unfortunately, we needed to change our reservation time. The staff proved to be extremely helpful and accommodating: by paying a difference equal to half the ticket cost (in addition to the original ticket), we were able to make an immediate change and even get a private lesson on the spot! The quality of the workshop, the passion of the instructors, and the attention to detail make this an unmissable activity in Kyoto. Going home with a custom-made Japanese knife is a priceless memory. Highly recommended to everyone!

Walking from JR Saga-Arashiyama Station, we were lucky that the weather in April wasn't too hot. There was a pleasant breeze the whole way, which was very comfortable. The onsen was hosted by two people, one man and one woman. Although I don't speak Japanese, I understood what they were saying, so communication was not a problem.

Kyoto and Nara Day Tour with Valerie 😊 I was a bit worried since I'm Korean and might not understand the English explanations well, but I was able to grasp the general gist of things more easily than expected. Above all, after the explanations, Valerie would come right up to me to explain things slowly and again in person, and even sent a summary in Korean via KakaoTalk. This allowed my companion and me to understand everything together and stay fully engaged in the tour. The large tour bus was air-conditioned, cool, and comfortable while we traveled. The seats were spacious, and there was plenty of room for our luggage, making the ride very pleasant. Using the toll roads made our travel time efficient, and we had a fun time learning about Japan's history and culture along the way. In Nara, we got to experience feeding the deer directly, and it was so much fun because the deer were very enthusiastic 🦌. I especially appreciated the thoughtful consideration when Valerie worried that our shoes might get dirty and prepared a way for us to dust and wipe our feet after feeding the deer. If you want to comfortably explore both Kyoto and Nara in a single day, I think a day tour is a great choice. For a wonderful trip, I recommend checking for availability on your desired date in advance and booking quickly!

It was nice! Clean, beautiful and interesting, it’s definitely worth the price tag. The dolphin show was a highlight and you can tell the dolphins instructors have a personal relationship with the animals. Also the giant salamanders at the front are HUGE and I love them so much. Also the seals are adorable. Enough said. กิจกรรม:

Although the original is displayed only once every 60 years, the hall itself offers a profound connection to the spiritual heritage of Daikaku-ji. Immerse yourself in the tranquil atmosphere and feel the echoes of the past.

Shingyo Pagoda

Embrace the spiritual and historical ambiance of Daikaku-ji at the Shingyo Pagoda. This elegant two-tiered structure commemorates the 1150th anniversary of Emperor Saga's Heart Sutra, standing as a beacon of devotion and reverence. As you explore the temple grounds, the pagoda invites you to pause and reflect on the rich tapestry of history woven into the fabric of Daikaku-ji. Its presence is a reminder of the temple's deep-rooted connections to Shingon Buddhism and the enduring legacy of Emperor Saga.

Cultural and Historical Significance

Daikaku-ji Temple is a treasure trove of Japanese history, having been the backdrop for significant peace talks in the 12th century that helped reunite the Northern and Southern Imperial Courts.
