Review for: Experience Japanese Culture: Making Omamori (Amulets) at a Shrine

Amulet Making Experience (Since I booked both the amulet making and kimono changing experiences, the introductory text is shared.) Recently, I wanted to make a commemorative amulet myself, and a friend recommended this place, so I booked a visit to the "Shiomi Ryugu Shrine" for the experience. I don't usually come around Shiomi, and when I first arrived, it was indeed a bit unique, just as the Google Maps reviews described. The building is a small apartment-office complex, with many restaurants on the first floor. Although I had read the reviews beforehand, I couldn't help but wonder if it was a bit too unusual. As soon as we got downstairs, a Taiwanese staff member heard us speaking and immediately came to confirm our reservation and explain things, which instantly put us at ease. For the DIY amulet making experience, you can choose between styles with or without a photo frame. Once you've chosen your style, you can start making it. Besides us, there were many other groups of customers that day, including quite a few Japanese people and families with children, making it feel like an art class experience. So, it's not purely an attraction for overseas tourists. I originally thought making an amulet would just involve drawing and sticking things, but I was surprised by the vast array of materials available. (This place uses stamps for designs.) Plus, you can choose beads to weave, and we spent almost two hours working on it without finishing. We eventually had to rush to wrap it up because we really couldn't stay any longer.🤣 However, throughout the process, both the Taiwanese and Japanese staff were incredibly meticulous and friendly. They were almost always responsive and thorough with instructions and various other requests (and this was true for other customers as well). Their explanations about the amulets and the shrine itself were also very detailed. I'm very grateful to all the staff that day. Overall, I highly recommend this experience to anyone who has already done many things in Tokyo and isn't interested in shopping. I personally had a lot of fun and found it very fulfilling. Of course, this experience might not be for everyone, but if you come, you'll generally have a good takeaway, at least getting your own unique amulet.

Review for: Experience Japanese Culture: Making Omamori (Amulets) at a Shrine

Beyond Asakusa and Disney, Tokyo offers another cultural experience well worth discovering! During my recent trip to Tokyo, a friend recommended I visit the Shiomi Ryugu Shrine, where I had a completely unique kimono cultural experience. From putting on the miko (shrine maiden) attire to understanding the origins and procedures of each ritual, a Chinese-speaking guide accompanied me throughout the entire process. For someone like me who doesn't speak Japanese, this was incredibly reassuring and allowed me to delve deeper into the meaning behind each ritual. The entire experience unfolded in a solemn and ritualistic atmosphere. It wasn't just about taking photos in miko attire; I also had the chance to personally create a sacred omamori (charm) that was truly one-of-a-kind and unique to me. There were also many cute and exquisite charms available for purchase, which I could mix and match to personalize my omamori, making it even more memorable and creating a unique souvenir from this trip. The entire experience lasted about 2 hours, but it flew by quickly. It didn't feel long at all; in fact, I wished it could have lasted longer. Additionally, this location is very close to Tokyo Disney, making it easily accessible by train. If you're planning a trip to Disney, I highly recommend including the Shiomi Ryugu Shrine in your itinerary. A 2-hour stopover allows you to experience traditional Japanese miko culture, adding a different kind of ceremonial touch to your journey. This experience not only left me with photos but also with a personal blessing and a cherished memory. 💜 If you enjoy immersing yourself in Japanese culture rather than just sightseeing, I truly recommend visiting here. #TokyoTravel #TokyoAttractions #TokyoItinerary #TokyoExperience #ShiomiRyuguShrine #MikoExperience #OmamoriDIY #JapaneseCulture #TokyoDisney #TokyoTravel #JapanTravel

I originally just wanted to try it out, but the handmade amulet was even more fun than I expected! My favorite part was being able to put a photo inside the amulet, creating a one-of-a-kind, personalized charm that holds great sentimental value. They had a lot of cute stamps and different colored ink pads available, so you could mix and match freely, and everyone could create a completely unique piece. The most special touch was the shiny, gold five-yen coin, polished for 48 hours, that you could put inside the amulet. Its Japanese pronunciation sounds like "good fortune with the gods," and I really loved this meaning, as it made the whole piece even more distinctive. The entire process was simple and enjoyable, perfect for anyone who loves crafts. I also highly recommend it for families to experience together; kids are sure to have a blast. Plus, you get to take home your own handmade creation, which is truly worthwhile! 👍

The experience was great; the costumes and settings created a wonderful atmosphere, and the photos turned out very unique. The staff were also very kind and helped guide us with poses and camera angles, making the whole process very smooth. It's perfect for experiencing Japanese shrine culture when visiting Tokyo and getting some special commemorative photos. The omamori (charm) making was also very interesting. We got to make our own personalized little charms, and while the process was simple, it felt very ceremonial. The staff explained everything clearly, and we really got a sense of the details of Japanese shrine culture. The finished charms are adorable and make great souvenirs. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience.

("Because I had booked both the omamori and the costume experience, the opening text is the same for both.) As soon as we got downstairs, a Taiwanese staff member heard us speaking and immediately came over to confirm our reservation and explain everything, which instantly put us at ease. Typically, for the costume experience, women book to try on miko (shrine maiden) outfits. However, they also offer kannushi (male priest) attire here, so boyfriends can also dress up with their girlfriends and take beautiful photos! That said, because there are more female customers, the selection of male costumes and props is a bit smaller compared to the female options. Nevertheless, the male outfits still look very impressive and handsome. Although the shrine isn't very large, there are plenty of spots for photos. And the staff are incredibly attentive, providing not only prop assistance but also thorough explanations of the facilities and various guidance. They also proactively offer many additional services and suggestions, so even the guys have a great time taking photos! Overall, I highly recommend this experience for those who have already explored many things in Tokyo and aren't interested in shopping. I personally had a wonderful and fulfilling time. Of course, this experience might not be for everyone, but if you come, you'll generally have a good takeaway, at least getting to experience wearing outfits that are hard to find elsewhere.

Things I learned after becoming a shrine maiden (miko) in Japan... My first experience as a shrine maiden felt incredibly novel and exciting! The miko outfit was much more elaborate than I imagined, with many layers to put on, one by one, which really made the experience feel ceremonial. I also wore beautiful floral hair ornaments. Once the whole outfit was on, it truly felt like stepping into a Japanese anime scene. Plus, I got to make my own omamori (charm)! I secretly put a picture of my little dog inside. The omamori I made became a one-of-a-kind, personal little charm. It's not just a souvenir; it's like collecting important memories and wishes together. It's so cute, I can't bear to put it down!

The moment I put on the miko outfit, I truly felt like I stepped into an anime world ⛩️🤍. The classic miko look, with a white top and red hakama skirt, creates a wonderful atmosphere in every photo. And with a bow and arrow in hand, I felt just like an anime character! 🏹✨ I also got to experience making my own omamori (charm) this time! You can put photos of your pets, important people, or cherished memories inside to create a unique omamori just for you 🐶🐱🤍. The finished omamori isn't just a souvenir; it feels like collecting your wishes and precious memories, which makes it extra special ✨. From the clothing to the hair accessories, every detail was filled with Japanese ambiance, making the whole experience incredibly immersive 🥹💕. If you love Japanese culture or anime, I highly recommend trying this experience! ⛩️🌸🤍

My first time trying on a miko (shrine maiden) outfit was wonderful. The staff meticulously helped me with the attire and shared interesting facts about shrine culture, making the experience more than just dressing up and taking photos. Walking through the shrine's corridors and torii gates in the miko outfit, with ancient, historically rich boats still preserved on site, every photo I took felt like it told a story. The most special part was the sea of clouds photography session; as the white mist slowly rose, the entire scene looked as if it were draped in a thin veil, absolutely dreamy. Besides the miko outfit experience, I also hand-made my own omamori (charm), and even put my own photo inside it. Finishing it gave me a truly unique feeling, making this souvenir even more special. This trip not only allowed me to experience the charm of traditional Japanese culture but also created an unforgettable and ceremonial memory for myself.

I also got to experience being a shrine maiden ⛩️. The outfit was incredibly complex, with so many layers. I also wore floral accessories on my head. After putting on the whole set, I felt a sense of ceremony, like I had stepped into an anime scene. I even got to make my own omamori (amulet) and print photos on the spot to put inside. It was truly, truly adorable.
