Really one of the best train museums I’ve ever been to. There’s so much history and so many interactive things to do, for free. The only thing you have to pay for is to drive the small train, but that’s a raffle. To gaurantee a spot you have to reserve a week early at a 7/11 (in Japanese)

An absolute must-see – the Railway Museum in Saitama! Anyone with even a spark of enthusiasm for trains will love this museum. Spanning over 9,000 square meters, visitors can delve deep into the history of Japanese railways, featuring real locomotives, interactive exhibits, and impressive technological experiences. (Sumikai) Over 36 faithfully reproduced vehicles are on display, and thanks to lighting, music, and video effects, even stationary trains come to life. (ANA) The absolute highlight for me was the ride on the small mini-train – in that moment, you completely forget your age and become a child again. That smile won't fade anytime soon! The museum is easily accessible from Ōmiya Station via the "New Shuttle" – the journey itself sets the mood for the adventure. (Japanliebe) For families, train enthusiasts, and nostalgia lovers: definitely plan a visit!

It's really big and worth visiting... but many activities require booking through an app, and one phone can only make one reservation. If children want to play again, you'll need to prepare another phone and arrive a bit earlier!

It's very convenient to buy tickets in advance and then just line up for entry upon arrival! The Railway Museum is perfect for children who love all kinds of trains. They can run around, and two or three hours will fly by. There's also a small outdoor train ride available (for an additional 200 yen per person). Highly recommended for parents planning their own itinerary!
