An absolute must-see – the Railway Museum in Saitama! Anyone with even a spark of enthusiasm for trains will love this museum. Spanning over 9,000 square meters, visitors can delve deep into the history of Japanese railways, featuring real locomotives, interactive exhibits, and impressive technological experiences. (Sumikai) Over 36 faithfully reproduced vehicles are on display, and thanks to lighting, music, and video effects, even stationary trains come to life. (ANA) The absolute highlight for me was the ride on the small mini-train – in that moment, you completely forget your age and become a child again. That smile won't fade anytime soon! The museum is easily accessible from Ōmiya Station via the "New Shuttle" – the journey itself sets the mood for the adventure. (Japanliebe) For families, train enthusiasts, and nostalgia lovers: definitely plan a visit!

easy to redeem ticket, the place is huge. there is a kids plaza with place for the kids to play separated for infant, toddlers and bigger kids, and there is a kids cafe too. for the mini train driving attractions, you need to download the railway app and win the time slot for the attraction. per entry for a family (3 person per train) is 600 yen. it's about 20 minutes per ride. one phone can get only 1 slot of the mini train ride. the exhibitions is big and really fun for train enthusiasts. there are other attractions such us VR (theres a fee) and diorama (free). all and all, it's a good experience.

Highly recommend this place – affordable and fun! I suggest eating at the bento shop outside on the first floor; their bento boxes are nicer. We didn't realize there weren't any Shinkansen bentos until we got to the fourth floor, but we were too tired to go back down 🥲. Remember to bring your own Shinkansen train to play with!!! Otherwise, your son will end up crying and wanting to buy one like mine did… They do sell them there, but you'll also need a screwdriver and batteries, ugh! Before you go in, you'll need to download the app to enter the lottery for play access. Since my kids are small, a lot of the activities are for elementary school students, so I didn't download it. We took the Shinkansen to the Railway Museum this time. If your kids love trains, you can take the Shinkansen (unreserved seating) to Omiya and then transfer to the New Shuttle. It costs around $288 from Ueno or $350 from Tokyo! You're not allowed to take photos while riding the mini-train. The staff will stop you 🚫. Since I don't understand Japanese, the first time, I thought she wanted me to put my bag in the locker. When I picked it up, I was stopped again, and then I understood🤣. She was quite stern…

A must-visit for train enthusiasts! I recommend trying the driving simulator, but the explanations are only in Japanese. So, if you don't speak Japanese, it's best to have some related knowledge or experience to fully enjoy it.

The place is very large; from 10 AM to 5 PM, you won't be able to see everything if you look closely. There are trains from ancient to modern times, a children's area, and dining options. The prices are reasonable, making it very family-friendly for those who love trains. However, please note that tickets booked online can only be entered using a QR code. If you wish to have a physical ticket as a souvenir, you must purchase it on-site.

Very nice, my child had a lot of fun. All the models and extras in the museum are very well done. The terrace and restaurant are very complete, not to mention the souvenir shop and gachapon machines, as well as the commemorative goshuin with the stamp of the day you visited.

With the renovation, the museum was reborn as a hands-on museum telling the story of the relationship between people and railways using various themes.
