After a prolonged tourism drought, Langkawi is finally welcoming tourists back with the establishment of the Langkawi Travel Bubble. For those who have been craving a getaway, it's the perfect opportunity to head back out for some fun, sun, and sea in the jewel of Kedah.
However, with the pandemic still at large, it's easy to feel paranoid while being surrounded by crowds and strangers. To help you plan a safe and enjoyable trip, we've compiled a list of fun, non-touristy things to do away from crowds that you can add to your Langkawi trip itinerary!

10 Fun Things To Do In Langkawi Away From The Crowds

    1. Escape to a private island at Paradise 101

Escape to a paradise away from crowds by catching a speedboat to Paradise 101, a private island located smack in the middle of the beautiful Andaman Sea. Surrounded by a long stretch of private beach and swaying casuarina trees, Paradise 101 promises sand, sun, and fun paired with undisturbed tranquility. You can choose to just sit back and relax or indulge in a variety of watersports available, from banana boat rides to jet skiing, ziplining, parasailing, and more.

    2. Have a refreshing dip at the Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls

Unwind with a refreshing dip at the Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls (Seven Wells Waterfalls), claimed by the locals to be the home of faeries. Known as one of Langkawi's most beautiful natural attractions, Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls consists of a series of seven intertwined natural pools fed by seven different waterfalls, which is how it got its name (tujuh means seven in the local language of Malaysia).
As visitors will have to embark on a 45-minute hike to get here, it generally doesn't get as crowded as other more accessible attractions in Langkawi, making it a perfect spot for a peaceful dip!

    3. Hop on a Sunset Dinner Cruise

What better way to end your day than dinner aboard a luxury cruise with views of the sun setting over the horizon? Hop on a Sunset Dinner Cruise and embark on a voyage across the sparkling sea with your loved ones - this is an activity not to be missed when planning a trip to Langkawi.
Make sure you pack your swimming attire for a dip in the saltwater jacuzzi to cool off after a satisfying dinner, if you're lucky, you may even catch sight of spinner dolphins and flying fish!

    4. Cruise through the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark

Hop on a boat and discover secluded coves and beaches with a private tour bookable on Klook, you'll have the whole boat to yourself and your travel companions, so you won't have to worry about rubbing shoulders with strangers.

Avoid the crowded, more popular beaches if you're in search of some peace and quiet - thankfully there are a handful of more laid-back beaches dotted across Langkawi. One of our favourites is definitely the relaxing Pantai Tanjung Rhu, offering waters as clear as crystal, powder-fine sand, and a somewhat secluded vibe.
Located away from the city hustle in a remote corner of Langkawi, the people who hang out here are usually guests of the Tanjung Rhu Resort, a beautiful 5-star hotel facing the beach. You won't have to worry about your kids getting lost in the crowd when you're at Tanjung Rhu!

    6. Go on a relaxing fishing trip

This relaxing activity is perfect for those who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of the mainland by venturing out into the crystal clear waters. Avoid the crowds by booking a private island hopping tour that will bring you to some of the best islands in Langkawi on a safe and comfortable private speedboat (opt for an 8, 15, or 20-seater boat depending on your group size).
Discover the mythical Pulau Dayang Bunting, feed magnificent eagles at Pulau Singa Besar, and snorkel to your heart's content in the sparkling sea.

    8. Hike the majestic Gunung Mat Cincang

The beautiful Gunung Mat Cincang stands proud at a height of 850m and is the second-highest mountain in Langkawi. We heard that you can see as far as southwest Thailand on a clear day! For those who love hiking yet wish to steer away from the crowds, opt for a leisurely morning rainforest trek before most people start their day.
Trek through the majestic landscape of Gunung Mat Cincang and get the chance to encounter unique Malaysian wildlife with the guidance of a local expert. If you're lucky, you may catch a glimpse of flying lemurs, mouse deer, and other creatures in this rainforest that dates back 500 million years.
