    Movies Are Coming Back!

    The government announced on the 22nd of June that cinemas can resume operations from 1st July 2020 onwards, with adherence to SOPs put in place.
    Some SOPs we know of include:
    • Depending on the capacity of the hall, the number of patrons should not exceed 250 people at one time
    • Temperature checks, social distancing, and wearing of face masks must be observed at all times
    • Providing of hand sanitizers at various checkpoints
    • Regular cleaning and sanitization of premises
    Other activities that will be allowed from 1st July 2020 include indoor live performances, swimming, seminars, conferences, and more.

    Movies To Look Forward To In July 2020

    Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) released a post on their Facebook page last night, showcasing some movies Malaysians can look forward to in July! We spotted a few that we can't wait to catch - which titles do you have your eyes on?

    1. Mulan

    Mulan Movie 2020
    "You will now take the oath of the warrior. Loyal. Brave. True.” Mulan was originally supposed to be out in cinemas in March, but the release date was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. Disney fans, get ready to join in on the epic adventure of the fearless young woman who masquerades as a man in place of her ailing father, eventually becoming one of China's greatest warriors in history.

    2. Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna

    Digimon Adventure was also initially set to be released in March 2020 but was forced to be pushed back due to the pandemic. The film is part of the overall 20th anniversary celebration of the franchise, and is set five years after Digimon Adventure tri., using the original cast of the previous film!

    3. Tenet

    Tenet is a highly-anticipated spy film written and directed by the legendary Christopher Nolan. The film stars actors like John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh. Despite having directed mind-boggling movies like Inception, Intersteller, and the Dark Knight Trilogy, Christopher Nolan teases that “the set would certainly rank as one of the largest-scale outdoor builds of all time,"

    4. Train To Busan

    Four years after he released the zombie film Train To Busan, South Korean film-maker Yeon Sang-ho has made a sequel! The sequel, Peninsula, will follow the lives of zombie apocalypse survivors, and was an idea that came to the director when sourcing for filming locations for Train To Busan years ago. He had hopes on making a sequel film should Train To Busan be well-received, and it sure did. The film will feature Korean actors like Lee Jung-hyun, Lee Re, Kwon Hae-hyo, and Kim Min-jae.

    5. My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising

    My Hero Academic: Heroes Rising is a Japanese anime superhero film that was released in Japan back in December 2019 but is finally coming to Malaysia! This release will definitely be a treat for anime fans - it is intended to be the last film adaptation of the popular franchise, so be sure not to miss it if you're a fan.

    6. Intruder

    If you're a fan of thrillers, this may be your cup of tea. Intruder is a South Korean mystery thriller starring Song Ji-Hyo and Kim Mu-yeol. The film follows the story of a woman who returns to her family after going missing 25 years ago, gaining suspicion from her brother who was traumatized by her disappearance.
    The movie's release was postponed twice due to the coronavirus, and was finally released in cinemas in Korea early June, drawing a total of 49,578 moviegoers to theatres on the first day of its release. The statistic marked the highest number of first-day moviegoers achieved by any film in South Korea since the outbreak.
