One tale centers around the existence of an ancient sword, found and extracted from the ground by villagers, which then was already known as Krabi. Subsequently, it had been entrusted and surrendered to the province’s governor. But not long after, another sword was discovered, though much smaller, still they had done the same and handed it over to the governor, who considered these as artifacts. Hence, the decision to store the weapons in a cave known as Kao Kanab Nam for safe-keeping.

The second tale is exponentially different. This time, it focuses on a tree known as Lumphi - which both the Malay and Chinese merchants had a tendency of mispronouncing as Kalubi or Kholobi. The error remained until it bore the Krabi we know today.
