    Forced to cook your own meals while you #dudukrumah due to the Movement Control Order? This period of not being able to dine out may be a challenge for many but it’s also a golden opportunity for you to level up your cooking skills!
    We’ve compiled a list of 12 super simple 3-ingredient recipes specially for those who’re usually only capable of cooking Maggi - save this up and get ready to act like a Masterchef in front of your family.

    Main dishes

    1. Mac and Cheese

    Creamy, gooey one-pot Mac and Cheese that’s perfect for cheese lovers!

    Ingredients needed (serves 4):
    • 5 cups (1 ¼ L) of milk 
    • 450g elbow macaroni
    • 2 cups (200g) of shredded cheddar cheese 
    Steps:
    1. Bring the milk to a boil in a large pot.
    2. Add elbow macaroni and stir frequently until pasta is cooked.
    3. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for a few more minutes.
    4. Remove from stove and add in cheese.
    5. Stir until pasta is evenly coated with melted cheese.

    2. Fried Rice

    Uncomplicated yet comforting nasi goreng - so simple yet so good.

    Ingredients needed (serves 3):
    • 3 cups of leftover/overnight rice (best if refrigerated)
    • 4 eggs, beaten
    • 4 green onions, chopped
    • Optional add-ons: any sort of veggies or meat of your choice!
    Steps:
    1. Line large nonstick pan with oil and heat over medium-high heat.
    2. Add beaten eggs and let to set until bottom is cooked but top still runny.
    3. Add rice to pan and separate chunks with spatula.
    4. Stir to coat rice with egg.
    5. Sprinkle salt and soy sauce (optional).
    6. Add in green onions.
    7. Keep cooking and stirring occasionally until rice is slightly golden and crispy.
    8. Serve warm!

    3. Salsa/Spanish Rice

    Spanish goodness put together with just 3 ingredients, easily whipped up in under 15 minutes!

    Ingredients needed:
    • 2 cups of cooked rice
    • 1 cup of chunky salsa
    • 1 cup of shredded cheese
    • Salt & pepper for seasoning
    • Optional add-ons: any protein of your choice. Steps:
    1. Add water and salsa to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
    2. Add in cooked rice and stir occasionally, season with salt and pepper.
    3. Remove from heat, cover and let it cool for 5 minutes.
    4. Sprinkle on shredded cheese and let your dish stand until cheese is melted.

    4. Grilled Cheese Sandwich

    Such an easy-to-make yet incredibly yummy breakfast dish. Beware, one may not be enough.

    Ingredients needed:
    • 2 slices of bread
    • Butter
    • A slice of cheese
    • Optional: ham or corn
    Steps:
    1. Preheat non-stick pan over medium heat.
    2. Butter one side of your bread slices.
    3. Place first slice of bread butter-side-down onto pan.
    4. Add cheese slice onto bread.
    5. Place second slice of bread butter-side-up on top of sandwich.
    6. Grill bread until lightly browned and flip over.
    7. Continue grilled until cheese is melted.
    8. Optional: you may also add on a slice of ham or corn together with the cheese!

    5. Lasagna

    Craving for something Italian? This 3-ingredient lasagna is bound to make you happy.

    Ingredients needed:
    • Lasagna noodles
    • Tomato-based pasta sauce
    • Ricotta cheese & shredded mozzarella cheese
    • Optional add-on: ground beef
    Steps:
    1. Heat up pasta sauce over the stove.
    2. Spread one-third of sauce evenly on a lightly greased baking dish.
    3. Layer with 3 noodles, some ricotta cheese and mozzarella cheese.
    4. Repeat procedure with sauce (one-third each time) and cheese.
    5. Pour 1/4 cup hot water around inside edge of dish.
    6. Cover baking dish with heavy-duty aluminium foil.
    7. Bake at 400° for 30 minutes.
    8. Remove foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes (or until cheese starts to brown).
    9. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving!

    6. Cheese-Baked Broccoli

    Ingredients needed (serves 3):
    • 2 crowns of broccoli
    • Shredded cheddar cheese (or parmesan cheese)
    • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
    • Salt & pepper for seasoning
    Steps:
    1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees.
    2. Cut crowns of broccoli and spread out in a baking pan/casserole dish.
    3. Sprinkle on garlic and add cheese evenly.
    4. Add salt and pepper to top and cover pan/dish with aluminium foil.
    5. Bake for 25 minutes.

    7. Teriyaki Chicken

    Not able to dine at your favourite Japanese restaurant? Time to create your own classic teriyaki chicken.

    Ingredients needed (serves 4):
    • Chicken thigh/breast, sliced into chunks
    • 1 cup (240ml) of soy sauce
    • ½ cup (110g) brown sugar
    Steps:
    1. Grease non-stick pan with oil and sear chicken evenly.
    2. Flip chunks to ensure both sides of chicken are cooked.
    3. Add in soy sauce and brown sugar, stir and bring to a boil.
    4. Stir until sauce has reduced and glazes the chicken.
    5. Dish is ready to be served with rice!

    8. Cola Chicken

    Another simple chicken dish that's sweet and tangy, perfect to be served with rice.

    Ingredients needed:
    • Chicken thigh/breast, sliced into chunks
    • 1 tin of coke
    • ½ cup of soy sauce
    Steps:
    1. Place chicken pieces in a pot over medium heat.
    2. Pour coke and soy sauce over the top.
    3. Cover lid and cook for 30-40 minutes.
    4. Remove lid and lower heat.
    5. Continue cooking until sauce is reduced to a sticky consistency.
    6. Tip: watch pot carefully to not burn your dish!

    9. Tomato Eggs

    A humble Chinese recipe made with just a few very basic ingredients!

    Ingredients needed:
    • 4 large eggs
    • Fresh tomato, cut into thin wedges
    • Garlic, diced
    • Salt, sesame oil, ground white pepper
    Steps:
    1. Beat eggs in a bowl with a pair of chopsticks or a fork.
    2. Add garlic, salt, sesame oil and pepper to mix and stir well.
    3. Heat wok/pan with cooking oil and add egg mixture.
    4. Spread eggs over wok and stir until eggs form lumps.
    5. Gently break lumps into small pieces and remove from wok once cooked.
    6. Clean wok and heat it up again with cooking oil.
    7. Add tomato wedges to wok and stir.
    8. Add water to tomatoes, cook for about 30 seconds.
    9. Add eggs to tomatoes and stir-fry.
    10. Dish is ready to be served!

    Desserts

    10. Nutella Brownies 

    Soft brownies loaded with Nutella flavour - warning: these little squares are super addictive.

    Ingredients needed:
    • 350g Nutella (microwave for 30 secs until runny)
    • 2 large eggs
    • ½ cup (60g) plain/all-purpose flour
    • Optional add-ons: chocolate chips, chopped nuts, salt, ice cream
    Steps:
    1. Whisk together Nutella and eggs until smooth and combined.
    2. Add flour and salt (optional) to the mix.
    3. Line a square baking pan with parchment paper.
    4. Pour batter into baking pan and bake for 20 - 25 minutes.
    5. Test if batter is cooked by inserting a fork (if it comes out clean, it’s ready!).
    6. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
    7. Serve warm (perfect with a blob of ice cream!)

    11. Banana Pancakes

    Start your day right with some fluffy banana pancakes!

    Ingredients needed:
    • A medium-ripe banana
    • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
    • 2 tablespoons of whole-wheat flour
    • Optional (for toppings): Maple syrup, butter, blueberries
    Steps:
    1. Peel and mash the banana with a fork until smooth.
    2. Add flour and egg to mix and stir well with a whisk.
    3. Heat a nonstick pan over medium-high heat
    4. Spoon batter onto pan and cook for 2 minutes.
    5. Carefully turn pancake over and cook the other side until bottom is lightly browned.
    6. Serve warm (perfect with maple syrup or butter!)

    Ingredients needed:
    • 2 tbsp instant coffee powder
    • 2 tbsp sugar
    • Milk
    • Hot water & ice
    Steps:
    1. Combine instant coffee, sugar and hot water and whisk till light and fluffy.
    2. Pour mixture into a glass of milk and ice.
    3. Enjoy your Dalgona Coffee!
