Yogyakarta Jomblang Cave & Merapi Sunrise Private Tour

I had an amazing Yogyakarta day tour and the best time with my guide, Mas Adit. We began with the Merapi Sunrise tour led by Mas Fanny, from the viewpoint to the bunker and museum, everything was exciting and well organized. The packed itinerary kept me engaged all day, from Jomblang Cave (bring headlights; it can get dark and slippery) to the relaxing Timang Beach. A surprise highlight was the impromptu lobster dinner at Timang Beach, which I think should be included in the itinerary. It was fresh and unforgettable. I loved how friendly and engaging everyone was, and that my guide joined in the activities, making the trip even more fun. My only suggestion is to make certain add-on fees (equipment, food, and some activities) more affordable for local visitors. Overall, this tour was fun, seamless, and highly recommended!

It was such a great experience albeit a bit tiring. Do prepare yourself accordingly as it will be a full day of adventure. Our guide, Uja was so great and helpful. He was really attentive to our needs. I’d recommend 10/10! the mas2 we met along the way during the activities were also great. Do take the chance to go into the cave and take the gondola. You’ll not regret at all!

An unforgettable one-day tour! From the breathtaking sunrise at Mount Merapi to the thrilling descent into Jomblang Cave and the scenic views of Timang Beach, every stop was perfectly planned. Our driver Adit was exceptional—friendly, punctual, and very knowledgeable about the area. He made sure we were comfortable throughout the journey and even helped us take amazing photos. Ujee my tour guide is very informative and speaks good English. you must try this, the experience in Merapi, Jomblang and Timang is the highlight of my Tour in Jogja.

Our guide, Luppa, was very helpful & guided us through this entire journey. Highly recommended! The sunrise at Mt Merapi was beautiful! Bring a jacket - it'll be very cold at 5am. All our guides were excellent photographers and they made sure we captured every moment! The Jomblang Cave experience is a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Your feet would literally be IN mud. I highly recommend buying those plastic shoe covers that go all the way (almost) up to your knees. Put this plastic on (over your socks) before you put your feet into the rented boots. When I came out, while others' socks were drenched in mud, my socks were still clean! Also get a shower cap to wear under the rented helmet. This was a fun & new experience! Bring an extra pair of clothes. A MUST-BUY is a head lamp! You will NEED both hand to hold on to ropes and it's pitch black in some parts of the cave. Luppa also brought us to see the beautiful view of the paddy fields and we ate corn while looking at the gorgeous view.

He was incredibly friendly and easygoing, which made the whole trip feel relaxed and comfortable. The itinerary was perfectly arranged with private car transfers, making everything super convenient. The highlight for me was the Jomblang cave – it was both thrilling and breathtaking! Just a heads-up: be sure to bring a change of clothes, as the cave adventure can get quite muddy and wet. Overall, I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Yogyakarta – it’s a day full of nature, excitement, and beautiful memories!

Stunning views as we were blessed with good weather! We received nice photos from the trip. Do take note that the Jomblang cave is an additional 500k IDR and the Gondola at Timung Beach is 200k. Also, Ujeee is a good guide and driver bringing us around and taking care of us! He made sure to help us take nice photos and videos during the trip

It turns out this was a private charter, not a small group tour. We were lucky to see the lava, and every stop was well-arranged. The scenery was beautiful, and it's highly recommended.

Driver Arya was very helpful and sincere during the trip. However, communication in English might be a little tricky but not an issue with translation app😊😊 Overall, really enjoy this trip!
