Umeda Weaving Experience (Osaka)

the process was smooth and easy. the instructor set up the warp and we just had to weave the weft. we were taught to use the shuttle, and before that given free choice to pick our skeins for weaving. we were also given 2 free coasters and 2 friendship bracelets at the end of the workshop which was a very nice touch. the studio was also very cosy to be in.

This class was my most favorite experience in all of Japan! The studio is absolutely beautiful, cozy, and full of inspiration! The instructors have put in a lot of time to prepare for the classes; they have pre-wrapped warps and bobbin ready to go! Which allows for everything to be set up super quickly while also allowing for students to have a choice on colors and design. My husband and I were able to complete a scarf in about 90 minutes! My husband has no previous experience in weaving, but the way everything is set up and presented, it allowed him to pick some colors, sit down, get into his element and just weave! He thought it was very relaxing and I can't tell you how joyful it is for me to wear a scarf woven by my husband 💕. Book this! It will clear your mind, inspire you, and you'll bring home the *best* souvenir anyone could ever want! Thank you again to the studio owner for having us. I'll never forget this experience, it was magic!

Incredible experience! It was very hands-on, and I was so happy with my scarf afterwards. The staff even pack it in a hand-coloured bag, with gifts (woven coaster and bracelet!). The male staff spoke English and guided us through the process very easily. The store is pretty small, but had its own charm, and I found the staff incredibly accomodating and kind. You’ll have to take it home and wet block to stabilise and soften the fibres. Quick tip, try and keep the sides tight, because I left mine looser than desired, not realising they’d stay like that. Overall, I’d highly recommend and would go again

We attended the weaving experience with our 2 daughters aged 7 & 11 and we all loved it so much. The teacher made the instructions so easy to follow, from choosing the colours to each completing a table runner. Such a special memory for our trip and perfect momento to take home. We recommend it highly. Thank you!!!

such a cool experience and totally ok for beginners. honestly, even if you’re clumsy and stuff it up, it still turns out great. definitely a must do experience that keeps you entertained and you keep the scarf! worth every yen

This is my top Osaka experience! Totally worth every peso. You are not just bringing home a very personalized souvenir but you are also helping a community of people with special needs as Saori is also a organization employing PWDs. Super great experience!!! So happy I spent my birthday here!

This was the cutest and best activity I’ve done in japan. The host was so lovely and you leave with a scarf you weaved yourself with colours you chose. Highly recommend!

I had a great time doing this weaving class. you’re pretty much free to do what you want picking colors and materials. I’d consider going again and trying new techniques.

The staff is very friendly and attentive. It was a unique and entertaining experience. It's worth mentioning that equipment is charged separately and depends on what you want to do.

Had a fantastic time! next time I'm in Japan I'll do it again! it was fun and calming and the instructors were friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the weaving and keeping my piece was very cool! One of the instructors spoke English, but honestly a lot of the required communication can be done with pointing and good will. You buy the materials for your piece, anywhere from 1000 to 2500 yen depending on what you do. Mine was 2200 and my companion's was 1900. We both made scarfs!
