Reviews
Our driver and guide Eka came punctually to pick us from our hotel. The ride to Eastern Bali was quite long (>1hr). Eventually we reached our host’s house where we were warmly welcomed with coffee and some cakes. We were shown how to grate coconut with traditional tools and the kids had a fun time squeezing the coconut milk by hand. While waiting for the milk to cook for oil extraction, Eka brought us around the family’s ancestral temple for a visit and explained in detail to us the cultural significance and practices of ancestor worshipping etc. It was an eye-opening session and we learnt a lot. We were then treated to delicious home cooked lunch by the host. The visit to the salt farm was also very interesting. Pak Nyoman welcomed us and showed us how he harvest sea water to make salt. He enthusiastically took pictures with our kids. The only thing that I think need slight improvement is probably the host covering the cakes with a net or something cos there was quite a bit of flies.
If you want to experience local market and walk into local houses and experience the deepest locak culture, you must try this activity!! Thae whole family was really kind and nice, also it is great to learn their culture!
The tour guide drove well and my friend and I got a good night's sleep. We first went to watch the production of sea salt, but there were limited things to watch, and we did not participate in the production process. Visited the traditional market and introduced Indonesian traditional food to us. The most important part of the itinerary is the production of coconut oil. We visit the home of the guide and he provides us with some snacks and tea. You can participate in the production of coconut oil and green curry, and introduce the production process. Finally enjoy lunch at the guide's house.
Noman Stabhan showed me around. First, we went to a popular market where he took us to a store frequented by locals, where there were lots of fresh ingredients. After that, we had coffee and snacks like tapioca rice dumplings at Noman's house, and we made coconut oil, curry, and side dishes together for lunch, which was a really fun time. From scratch, we peeled, scraped, and filtered the coconuts, which was my first time experiencing this process and it was really interesting. After that, we went to the sea to see how salt is made. Seeing the time-consuming process of making salt, I was reminded that salt containing lots of minerals is very valuable. Everyone was so kind and taught me, and it was a really fulfilling day. Thank you so much.
This was a truly amazing experience, the support from Putu and his family was fantastic. We had a great day immersing ourselves in Balinese life. I would highly recommend this service to anyone who wants a different experience to the way they travel.
Amazing experience at a local's house. Got to understand more about the culture, houses, way of life and traditions. Got dropped off on the way at a coffee plantation as well for coffee.
Sri is a very friendly personnel that brings us around the spots and chatting us up, the family that we made the coconut oil and lunch together is very accomodating too as well, the friendliness in Bali never lies.
The experience involved about a 2-hour trip from Sanur to the east. The experience took place in a place that felt like a private residence, which made it feel even more unique. The oil and food making were easy enough that children could enjoy it too. However, I was a little disappointed with the salt farm visit because we only got to look around in a limited area😭. Of course, visiting a place like that and seeing it with your own eyes is a very valuable experience in itself, but after arriving at the salt farm, which took almost an hour from the oil-making location, we only looked around for 5-10 minutes before heading back. There was nothing else to do even if we wanted to stay longer... It felt a little anticlimactic considering the effort we put into getting there only to find there was nothing to do😢. Anyway, it was a fun experience! The coconut oil we made ourselves smells amazing🤭. We get to take the coconut oil we made home with us, so I recommend giving it a try😇.
It was a very memorable day. The guide Iwayan can speak some Japanese. You can experience the real local, not a tourist spot! After visiting the market where only locals can be found, it's about a 15-minute drive to Iwayan's house. We had coffee and Balinese sweets (somewhat nostalgic for Japanese people, like Uiro with coconut) in a house where we really live as a family, and made coconut oil and green curry. increase. I participated with my children (3 years old, 0 years old), but his mother was very helpful in holding the unruly baby and giving me a coconut oil massage. I was impressed that the green curry is so delicious with only natural ingredients without meat. I am also impressed by the local wisdom of using up coconuts without waste, including oil. The salt field tour was so traditional that it was just condensed and dried seawater, and it was hard to believe, but the salt was very delicious and delicious. During the drive, he gave me various explanations from beginning to end, and my understanding of Balinese culture deepened. It's still a new tour. Thank you Iwayan
This is certainly the one of a kind experience I never imagined to have. Iwanyan kar was an excellent host and guide. We were picked up at our hotel early in the morning. During the 2 hour drive, he introduced to us the culture and beautiful scenes of the places we drove by. When we got to the site, we were greeted by his lovely family and brought us coffee and traditional dessert. During the visit, we were able to make coconut oil and green curry from scratch. Iwanyan kar has everything prepared. So you won’t need to worry a thing. It was definitely a trip I would recommend to anyone who’s keen on exploring the Bali culture and lifestyle, and anyone who’s tired of the typical tourist attractions.
