What to expect
Departing from Nagoya, take you to visit Gujo Hachiman, Hida Takayama, and Shirakawa-go Gassho Village, and encounter ancient streets, snowy countries, and delicacies~
- The first stop is Gujo Hachiman, an ancient city known as the "Town of Water", famous for its crystal clear rivers and crisscrossing canals. The town is built on a mountain, and the wooden townhouses, stone-paved streets, and living water coexist, preserving the living style of the Edo period. Walking along the street, you can feel the slow and pure local rhythm. Climb to Gujo Hachiman Castle on the top of the mountain, the view is suddenly clear, the castle town and the mountains are unobstructed, and it is even more quiet when covered with white snow in winter, and it is called a famous city in the snow.
- Then go to Hida Takayama and walk into the historical district known as "Hida Little Kyoto". The Sanmachi Old Street is lined with merchant town buildings from the Edo to Meiji periods, with sake breweries, handicraft shops and traditional pastry shops opening one after another. Here you can not only taste local delicacies such as Hida beef cuisine and Takayama ramen, but also appreciate the delicate and exquisite craftsmanship of Hida craftsmen at close range. It is an excellent stop to experience local culture and food charm.
- The last stop of the trip is Shirakawa-go Gassho Village, a World Heritage Site. In the village surrounded by mountains on all sides, gassho-style thatched houses are built on paddy fields, showing the wisdom of living in harmony with nature. The steep roof was built to resist heavy snow, forming a unique rural landscape. Walking through it is like walking into a secret mountain where time flows slowly, drawing the most memorable ending to this trip.

Reviews
Very well paced tour with ample time to explore each area. Guide Lui Chang was very professional and she speaks 3 languages. This is not a guided tour. The guide will just explain what we can do in the area and the time we need to be back to the bus and we are off to explore the area on our own.
convenient way to cover the 3 places. we enjoyed the tour and we had enough time to explore on our own. beautiful places, great restaurants and nice items to purchase.
had a fun time visiting all these beautiful places. I like going to the outskirts so i enjoyed this trip very much. the guide, Hao, was really thoughtful. I was the only English-speaking person in our tour group and she made sure that I got all the details that I needed to enjoy the place. If you need a place away from the hustle and buzz of the cities, I recommend taking this trip. worth it :)
Tour was great. Our English/Chinese guide introduce the area properly so we can check the place smoothly without wasting our limited time. We were planning only to visit Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go, but Gujo Hachiman was also a place to visit.
We joined Klook's "Gujo Hachiman, Hida Takayama & Shirakawa-go Gassho Village Day Tour" and found the overall itinerary to be smooth, with all the attractions well worth visiting. We especially recommend tour guide Stacy; her explanations were clear, her time management was excellent, and she took great care of the group, making the entire trip very reassuring. Shirakawa-go is truly beautiful, and the old streets of Hida Takayama are great for exploring. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
Our tour guide, Nancy, was very dedicated and attentive to everyone's needs. Even though it was a small group in a mini-bus, she provided commentary in both Chinese and English, ensuring that all members understood the attractions and key photo opportunities. The quality of the tour was excellent.
Our tour guide, Xiao Juan, was very responsible. She would outline each attraction and itinerary as we passed by, telling us about the local history and culture. The only downside was that the time at each attraction was a bit short, not allowing for in-depth exploration.
We were very lucky; we had an almost private tour with a small bus and only 7 passengers. We all kept to the schedule and were on time at every stop.
It was a very chill day tour considering we have three places to visit. Ms. Hao was very nice and explains very well. Recommended tour.
It was a nice experience. The weather has been perfect. View are amazing. Hida beef in Takayama is a must try.
