Reviews
Reviews summaryThe day trip to Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go Gassho Village was very well-organized overall. The tour guide introduced the attractions and meeting times on the bus, then allowed travelers free time upon arrival, with a final meeting at a designated location. I really enjoyed this style of travel. Compared to traditional day trips where you have to follow the guide the entire time, this itinerary was much more relaxed and comfortable. There was no pressure to rush or be hurried, allowing us to explore at our own pace. During this trip, we savored delicious Hida beef skewers and pudding in Hida Takayama. In Shirakawa-go, we not only admired many beautiful Gassho-zukuri houses but also took many stunning photos. Overall, it was a very pleasant and comfortable day trip experience, and I highly recommend it to everyone!
On the day of our departure from Nagoya, we were very worried about the weather due to news of a typhoon. However, the tour proceeded as planned, and fortunately, when we arrived in Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go, it wasn't raining, allowing us to truly enjoy our trip. I extend my sincere gratitude to our guide, Lim Ho, who kindly provided tour information in both Korean and Chinese during this tour with my husband. He meticulously shared not only the historical background of the region but also hidden culinary gems and must-try foods, which enriched our tour experience even further. The Hida beef sushi and sake coin tasting we enjoyed, thanks to our guide, were absolutely superb! Although the wait was a bit long, the soba noodles we had at a Michelin-starred restaurant, and the ice cream and soy sauce dango we savored for dessert... it made me understand why this tour is a must-do when visiting Nagoya. Shirakawa-go's Gassho-zukuri village in June was incredibly lush and green, making every photo look beautiful. Usually, when my husband and I travel, we only have individual photos because we're busy taking pictures of each other. However, thanks to Guide Lim Ho, who took wonderful commemorative photos for us, we were able to capture precious couple photos and create great memories together. It was a perfect tour, making our weather worries seem unfounded. Thank you once again!
always a joy to join the tour, our 3rd time in 3 seasons. love this tour, we had an overlooking view stop, the bus also dropped us off to the top for the shirakawago landscape and ample time to roam around takayama and shira. the driver is great. our tour guide, ms Jane Geng, was very informative, patient, attentive and speaks english to chinese fluently
This trip was fantastic! Although the journey from Nagoya Station to Hida Old Town took two and a half hours, there was a rest stop along the way with beautiful scenery, so the entire trip didn't feel like we were just sitting in the car. The tour guide was very diligent in recommending places to visit and food to try, and upon arrival, they would point out directions and then let everyone explore on their own, which I really liked. The only downside was that two hours in Hida Old Town felt a bit rushed; after deducting time for lunch, there was only one hour left, and many shops couldn't be visited. Shirakawa-go (Gassho Village) also had two hours, but since we didn't need to eat there, those two hours felt very ample and comfortable for exploring. Shirakawa-go is incredibly beautiful! Another minor drawback was that the bus was a small one, and the seats were quite small and a bit cramped, but everything else was great.
was a fun trip out on 13 May 2026 and blessed with good weather throughout. 林虎 the guide who followed us in a 45 seater bus worked efficiently juggling with English, Chinese and Korean to meet the language needs of all participants. The guide ensures our safety by reminding us about safety belts when seated. And repeated on meeting place and timings ensuring everyone got the message clearly. friendly and willing to explain more when asked. He shared some insights about the Takayama and Shirakawago and even recommended Nagoya must eats. thanks to him we tried pork cutlets with red miso. was delicious. overall a good trip with 100% punctuality from everyone!
Our experience on the "Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go Day Tour" was excellent overall. Our guide, Miyamoto, was very experienced and explained the tour itinerary with great professionalism. I'd especially like to thank our female driver for her hard work; despite the long journey, her driving skills were superb, and the ride was smooth. We were also fortunate to have a new tour bus, and the combination of quality hardware and steady driving significantly enhanced the comfort of the long trip. Since the itinerary is quite packed, I recommend that participants do some research on the bus beforehand to plan which shops they definitely want to visit. This will make the experience more focused. Although meal times are shortened to maximize sightseeing, being able to visit two world-class attractions in one day still offers great value for money. What was most thoughtful was that at the end of the return journey, our guide Miyamoto also recommended must-visit local attractions and authentic cuisine in Nagoya, bringing the entire day's tour to a perfect close. Highly recommended!
I booked a day trip to Shirakawa-go from Takayama. The itinerary was very well-planned, but it rained all day, which was a bit disappointing. However, it didn't affect the trip, and I still got to see what I wanted to see. I should have received information from the tour guide before the trip, but I didn't get any emails from the guide or anyone else before departure. Luckily, I saw the meeting point details in my previous Klook booking, so I knew where to go. During the tour, the guide suggested places to eat and shop and also shared some brief historical facts. Otherwise, tourists had free time. The guide's attitude was a bit poor; when I asked twice about something I wanted to buy in Takayama, they were somewhat dismissive. Perhaps it's due to their years of experience, but I've never encountered a Klook local tour guide with such a bad attitude. I didn't even catch their name.
Enjoyed the day trip out to both Takayama and Shirakawa. The English guide assigned was Amy and she was brilliant. Mixing a bit of humor with interesting facts about the places we intend to visit. Personally preferred Takayama. But you won't go wrong joking this tour either way. Recommended. 👍
After checking that the cost of traveling on our own was similar to a one-day tour, we decided to book the tour. Our guide, Liu Mei, was very kind and friendly, providing us with a complete experience. Everyone in our group was punctual, which made our itinerary very smooth (and a big thank you to our driver, Brother Guohua, who worked very hard). The itinerary was indeed a bit rushed; we spent about 2 hours at the mountain, so it might not be suitable for those who want to explore slowly. We had about 1.5 hours at Shirakawa-go (30 minutes at the observation deck, and about 1 hour and 10 minutes exploring the village). We didn't get to try the pudding, but we had enough time to look around and take photos. We returned to Nagoya around 6:45 PM. This tour is perfect for those who don't want to endure a long, tiring journey on their own. Having a chartered car and a guide made it much more relaxing! Thanks again to Sister Liu Mei for providing us with so much information and care. It was a wonderful trip!
Our Takayama and Shirakawago tour was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Everything was well-organized and perfectly paced, giving us enough time to explore. Hao, our tour guide, was wonderful, warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive. She made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable throughout the journey. We especially appreciated her thoughtful recommendations on what to eat and what to see in both Takayama and Shirakawago. Because of her guidance, we were able to experience the best of both destinations. Special thanks as well to Ishida, who drove us all the way with such care and professionalism. You could truly feel that our safety was his priority. On our way back to the bus, he even made iced duck for us before we get on the bus, such a sweet and thoughtful gesture that made the day even more memorable. We would happily do it again, maybe in another season to see Takayama and Shirakawago in a different light.
