What to expect
Immerse yourself in the rich historical heritage of Beijing as you enter the regal Beijing Summer Palace (Yiheyuan). As mandatory a Beijing sight as the Forbidden City or the Great Wall, the Summer Palace is one of the most popular landmarks in the city, and one of the best examples of an imperial garden in China. It greatly influences Chinese horticulture and landscape with its jaw dropping natural views. A ticket grants you entry to the main palace complex, including the Longevity Hill and the Long Corridor. You may also visit other attractions in the palace, such as the Garden of Virtue and Harmony, Wenchang Gallery, the Hall of Serenity, and the Tower of Buddhist Incense, for an additional cost. This place is a must-see for first-time Beijing visitors and history buffs.

The Summer Palace was quite cold and rainy when I visited, with a thick fog that obscured the views. However, it was still beautiful in its own way, so it was acceptable. When I bought the tickets on Klook, they were twice as expensive as buying them at the gate. I'm not sure why; perhaps the on-site tickets only cover basic entry and not all zones. The Klook tickets, however, allowed access to all zones, but I couldn't explore everything because it was crowded, cold, and rainy. Despite that, I was impressed! The high-angle views were stunning.
I would suggest to spend a whole day there as the area is larger than Fobidden City and if you like gardens and boat rides. There is a 100-step temple to see the 千手观音 statue. The view up there is also spectacular and breathtaking. However do not eat at the dessert shop “The Palace Story” along the 长廊 as it is expensive and foodstuffs are small. A further walk of 200m will find many food stalls whereby the foods are more interesting and greater variety, like Peking Duck Roll/Wrap, 炸酱面, 烧饼, etc.
The Summer Palace was beautiful! Our tourguide Wendy was very fluent in English, and she was very friendly! A very sweet lady indeed. She has a lot of information to share about the Summer Palace, and she knows a lot of less crowded spots to take pictures. She can definitely set you up with a nice background. We highly recommend her, and don’t be shy to exchange your travel stories with her too!
Visiting the Summer Palace was an absolutely beautiful and relaxing experience. The scenery is stunning, with peaceful lakes, elegant bridges, and traditional architecture everywhere you look. Walking around the palace grounds felt calming and enjoyable, especially with the fresh air and open space. The place is rich in history and culture, and every corner feels photo-worthy. It’s perfect for sightseeing, slow walks, and appreciating Beijing’s imperial past. Overall, the Summer Palace is a must-visit attraction in Beijing. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys nature, history, and scenic views.
Booking tickets for summer palace from klook was easy! They will first sent a confirmation within 48h but they will update the voucher/ticket a few days before the selected date of admission. Nevertheless, my tickets worked and we had a wonderful time at summer palace! Started from the north entrance and had to take a hike up before reaching flat ground which was nearer to the east gate. The park also had stunning views of each palace and buildings! Will book from klook again for my next trip to summer palace!
This is worth visiting on 3 grounds. 1 for its historical 2. architecture and 3. cultural signifucance. It is a small group tour and our guide was Richard who is effectively bilingual. He took time to explain the significance of both artefacts and the summer palace's architectural design. We like the explanation he gave on the hidden messages and significance of various artefacts and their cultural symbolism as well as their relevance to the forbidden palace's artefacts - this allowed us to understand both the cultural and power significance of the summer palace even more.

First I thought that I only booked an entrance ticket and have to explore the park by myself. But we arrived there and Richard, our guide, waited for us with the tickets. And that was great! he guided us through the park, showed us hidden gems and told us interesting facts and stories about the park. He is a great guide! I still remember the facts and stories he told us!
I bought the admission ticket and boat tour. Susie contacted one day before to meet in the Xinjiangngongmen gate. She guide us for the entrance and to take the boat. After taking the boat, we can go through the building in the Summer Palace and exit from East Gate
I was happy to visit the Summer Palace at a discounted price. If you book in advance on Klook, you can purchase an all-inclusive pass at a discounted price. If you are going on your own, I highly recommend purchasing the all-inclusive pass. You can truly appreciate the beauty of the Summer Palace. Be sure to purchase the Korean audio guide to enhance your experience. You'll see things differently when you understand the explanations. I do not recommend the Korean guide. They don't enter the paid areas of the Summer Palace and only talk from the outside. If you're traveling independently, I recommend the all-inclusive ticket + Korean audio guide.
