About

Roppongi Hills is a development project in Tokyo and one of Japan's largest integrated property developments, located in the Roppongi district of Minato, Tokyo. Constructed by building tycoon Minoru Mori, the mega-complex incorporates office space, apartments, shops, restaurants, cafés, movie theatres, a museum, a hotel, a major TV studio, an outdoor amphitheatre, and a few parks. The centerpiece is the 54-story Mori Tower. Mori's stated vision was to build an integrated development where high-rise inner-urban communities allow people to live, work, play, and shop in proximity to eliminate commuting time. He argued that this would increase leisure time, quality of life, and benefit Japan's national competitiveness. Seventeen years after the design's initial conception, the complex opened to the public on April 25, 2003. The architecture and use of space is documented in the book Six Strata: Roppongi Hills Redefined.

The Roppongi Hills Observation Tower was so-so for us. I don't really recommend it because there's not much to do here except for taking pictures of the city from high above. When we were there, there was an exhibition for some Jpop boy band. Besides that, there are some shops and cafes here. Nevertheless, this is where I bought a Yayoi Kusama doll keychain which I absolutely love 😄 Overall, we only spent about 30-40 minutes at the observatory. We were more interested in the cafes, bakery, and shops below the tower.

Its iconic Mori Tower stands tall amidst a bustling cityscape, providing panoramic views from its observation deck. With an array of high-end boutiques, restaurants serving diverse cuisines, and art galleries showcasing contemporary works, Roppongi Hills caters to various interests. The Mori Art Museum within the complex hosts thought-provoking exhibitions, adding a touch of sophistication to the area

I went to the observation deck at Roppongi Hills for the first time. I was able to purchase it cheaper than purchasing it officially. I was able to purchase it on the same day and was glad it wasn't sold out. It seemed like a JO1 event was being held, and it was crowded with fans. There was also a cafe where you could take a break while looking at the scenery.

Klook is very convenient to use. Once booked for your preferred date and time, entry to the Roppongi Hills Observation Deck is a breeze. Just go to the entrance for the Observation Deck at the third floor and show your voucher to the staff and they will issue tickets onsite. The Deck offers a great view of the Tokyo Tower and the metropolitan area, especially at night. Totally recommended.

Revisiting Roppongi Hills Observation Deck the second time. The view is breathtaking and it is one of the best observation deck in Tokyo. Although some parts of the deck is limited now, you can still access the sky deck with a extra fee of 500 yen. The sky deck is a must go in my opinion as it provides a 360 view around the tower and it is unobstructed by the reflection of the windows. You would need to purchase the sky deck ticket on the 52F and put away most of your luggage (backpack and tripod are not allowed) in a locker (100 yen, will be returned after your visit). Overall, definitely worth the price and would recommend this place.

An easy 10 minute stroll from Roppongi Hills we found a little gem of a restaurant, Tetsuan. Serving a kaiseki course menu, Chef carefully prepared each delicate seasonal dish enticing us with a rich aroma, texture and flavour that was just superb. Beautifully presented, it was also a feast for the eyes. Thank you Chef, we will definitely return to enjoy your hospitality!
