What to expect
[Nyoirin-ji Temple] Also known as the Frog God Temple. The temple’s architecture is simple and elegant, imbued with a strong Zen atmosphere. The main buildings include the Great Buddha Hall, the Zen Hall, and the Sutra Repository. These structures not only possess high historical value but also showcase the aesthetics of traditional Japanese architecture. Since the abbot brought a jade frog from China, the temple has accumulated 10,000 frog ornaments. [Mount Yufu Trailhead] Mount Yufu is located in an active volcanic zone and features unique volcanic terrain. The mountain body appears matcha-colored, and its vegetation displays different colors throughout the four seasons. The scenery around the trailhead is beautiful. [Yufuin] Combining Ghibli’s Japanese fantasy style with English countryside charm, Yufuin is also a famous hot spring resort in Kyushu. Its rustic and peaceful town environment and warm, healthy open-air baths are among the charming attractions that make Yufuin unforgettable. [Lake Kinrin] Originally named “Gakushita Pond,” it was later renamed by the Confucian scholar Mori Kuso, who observed the lake’s surface shimmering like fish scales in the sunset. Its unique feature is that hot spring water gushes from the bottom of the lake, mixing with the colder external water to create a dreamy landscape shrouded in mist. [Umi Jigoku & Kamado Jigoku] Beppu is renowned for its hot spring industry, with over 200 public hot springs throughout the city. The abundance of hot spring sources and the richness of their water quality are among the best in the world. Here, you can also experience Beppu’s specialty—Jigoku Mushi (hell-steaming), a cooking method that uses the high-temperature steam from hot springs to steam and stew dishes. It is a unique Beppu cuisine that maximizes the original flavors of the ingredients. **# Pre-trip Notice ## Between 17:00 and 21:00 the day before departure, we will contact you using the contact information you provided. Reviews
We had a wonderful time attending this Beppu Yufuin One-Day Tour. Our guide, Ms. Yang, was very clear in explaining the facts and history of the place that we will be visiting and she also send us recommendations of places for lunch since we were traveling with a vegetarian. I also like the part that she reserved the first seat for us so that it would not be difficult for my mom who is a senior citizen. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour. Not only did we managed to visit some beautiful places, it was also friendly to senior citizens.
Our Tourguide, Kevin, was really nice and funny. Our highlights were the hot springs in Beppu, besides the smell, we really enjoyed them. The colour of the water combined with the steam was truly remarkable, definitely worth a trip! The frog temple was cute too and even though Yufuin was extremely crowded we adored the cute shops, except for the animal cages. Overall, we recommend this tour!
I signed up for this tour knowing it was exclusively for foreign visitors. Traveling to Yufuin by train on my own would have been both time-consuming and expensive, and this tour was cheaper than those for Japanese tourists. The guide was Chinese and explained things in English and Chinese, but since they also spoke Japanese, they were able to explain the meeting point and time in Japanese, which was very helpful. Yufuin was incredibly crowded during Golden Week. I recommend visiting during a less busy time to enjoy a more relaxed sightseeing experience.
The Chinese female tour guide was very punctual. The car was a bit old (for someone around 175-180 cm tall, a single seat was quite cramped). If your family consists of tall people, you should really consider booking a different private car. The air conditioning was only adjusted to be a bit cooler after everyone asked (otherwise, the Japanese car's constant heating was really dizzying). The attractions were well-arranged. The 2.5-hour stop in Yufuin allowed us to see about 70% of it. It felt like we could have stayed longer, but then we worried about traffic on the way back to Hakata (this is a good option for those who don't want to stay in Yufuin but still want to visit Kinrin Lake and the lively areas of Yufuin).
great experience learned so much about beppu and yufin! highly recommend if you wish to try more food and get out of the city to see more local spots!
Booking a one-day tour saves a lot of time finding transportation yourself, and you can visit multiple attractions in one day. Special thanks to the female tour guide, Yang Meng, on the day; she was very attentive, polite, and responsible. When we arrived at the attractions, she would proactively help us take photos and introduce famous local foods, suggesting we try them. We chose this restaurant that day; it was very authentic. Each meal was made to order and served fresh. This was my first time in Beppu, and seeing the different colored pools of water was very special. There were also onsen (hot spring) eggs, corn, and steamed buns available for purchase.
This was my first time taking a day tour in Japan, and I was really looking forward to visiting Yufuin. I was so lucky to have our tour guide, Lily, provide detailed explanations of the itinerary and recommend delicious food. This allowed us to explore and eat at our leisure, making the most of our time. For friends planning a self-guided trip to Japan, I highly recommend trying a KKday day tour. It makes the journey much more relaxing and takes away the stress of planning your itinerary.
Our tour guide Kevin was really accommodating, jolly and kind. A must try At Kamado Jigoku the steamed eggs, corn and buns.
very much recommended if you wanted a quick day tour in Oita! our tour guide Cho is great!
Jimmy is a fun person, knowledgeable guide and helpful person. will recommend this tour.
