Yilan Water activities

Bringing the kids here for their first shrimp fishing experience was so much fun! We had barely sat down when we caught a really big, lively shrimp! The bait was dried shrimp, which was a bit hard to hook. The shrimp were quite easy to catch; we rented two rods for 70 minutes and each caught 12 shrimp. The kids felt a great sense of accomplishment! Some of the shrimp can pinch, but gloves are provided. Staff are available to assist with any questions. Shrimp crackers and drinks are available on-site, and these are included with Klook ticket purchases. There's also a shrimp fishing competition where the first few people to catch a shrimp during the same time period can claim a shrimp cracker. After fishing and weighing your catch, you can take your bucket of shrimp to the self-service grilling area across the way or have them cooked by staff. It was truly delicious and enjoyable!

Today I went whale watching at Guishan Island in Yilan, and it was absolutely amazing! In the morning, the sun was shining on the sea, and it felt incredibly comfortable. We took a boat out to sea, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Then, we saw many whales leaping out of the water, which was so exciting! Their majestic forms were truly breathtaking, and I couldn't stop taking pictures. Near Guishan Island, you can also see unique geological features, like the turtle head of Turtle Island. There's also a chance to see adorable dolphins swimming around the boat, which is super cute! This whale watching trip was so worthwhile and filled me with awe for the ocean. Yilan is truly a beautiful place, and I definitely want to visit again! We chose an activity on the platform, but when we arrived, we found out there were other options. It was a bit of a shame we couldn't ride the water bikes around the lake 🥲, but overall it was still a lot of fun 🥳. For summer, we recommend choosing an afternoon session; the latest check-in is 3:30 PM.

Coach Ba La was humorous and provided detailed explanations, and the photos turned out great. The weather wasn't ideal, as it rained quite a bit, but we hadn't been rained on in a long time, so we had a fantastic time. Rainy days have their own unique charm.

A very leisurely and relaxing experience, you can appreciate the beautiful scenery of Yilan from angles you don't normally see, but unexpectedly tiring 🤣. I went back and found blisters on my hands, I wonder if I can bring my own gloves. The instructor is super helpful with taking pictures!

I really love Blue Ocean's service. Every time I go, I rent a board and enjoy the fun of surfing. This time, a friend recommended booking through Klook, which also offered a discount. On August 8th, the activity was canceled due to a typhoon warning, but I give the store's service attitude 100 points. Blue Ocean is the top choice for surfing in Yilan!

Location: This is a new public beach, but there are too many activities in the mixed waters. Those playing SUP or kayaking might collide with swimmers, snorkelers, and people playing in the water. There are free showers inside the public restrooms, and a parking lot nearby, though parking fees are higher on holidays. Safety: SUP is very safe, with no wind or waves within the buoyed area. Equipment: The SUP boards are new, and the paddles are smooth and easy to use. Instructors: They are all humorous, professional, and easy to get along with, though the photo angles and quality are a bit unique. Experience: Overall, it was good, and I would purchase the 2-hour experience next time.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience! My 1st time surfing, and alone as a solo traveller, but the instructor was super clear in his instructions and I was able to slowly pick up trying to stand on the board. The weather conditions were not the best for surfing on this day (raining), but the instructor carefully looked out for us. They offer free shuttle pick ups at 9am/1pm from Toucheng station, you can LINE them if you're a foreigner without phone number. They also rent out wetsuits for free. The lady also kindly offered to order a bento for lunch right after. The photos taken were super nice as well. I suggest booking a half day surf if you're not super athletic and try it out first. Will be back again if I have the chance to!

Great experience! we paddled the SUP alone the beautiful coastline all the way to a hidden beach and back. The instructor was very kind and thoughtful. The equipment was decent and there was a place to shower when we got back.
