What to expect
Morning Adventure: Puffing Billy Steam Train Your day begins with a ride on the famous Puffing Billy Steam Train. This is one of Australia’s oldest and most beloved railways, traversing lush rainforests, crossing charming wooden bridges, and offering spectacular views of the Dandenong Ranges. (If the scenic area is temporarily closed or under maintenance due to irresistible forces such as high temperature bushfires or heavy rain, we will proceed with the subsequent itinerary as planned and assist with refunding the train ticket fee.)
Afternoon Exploration: Phillip Island Wildlife and Scenery Next, head to Phillip Island to get up close with native Australian animals such as kangaroos, koalas, and wallabies. You can also explore the island’s rugged coastline and visit famous attractions like The Nobbies Centre, enjoying spectacular ocean views and playful seals. (The Nobbies Centre is currently closed for safety maintenance and structural inspection. Some areas of the boardwalk may have restricted access depending on on-site conditions.)
Evening Spectacle: Penguin Parade As night falls, witness hundreds of little penguins emerge from the sea, waddling across the beach to return to their nests, a truly breathtaking sight.

Reviews summaryI was extremely satisfied with the "Puffing Billy Steam Train & Phillip Island Day Tour (Chinese Guided Tour)"! Our guide, Joe, was very professional in planning the itinerary. The entire route was planned smoothly, the timing was just right, and I didn't feel rushed or tired at all. Because it was summer and the days were longer, Joe even added a hidden itinerary, making the whole trip richer and more surprising, which made it worth every penny! His Chinese explanations were clear and thoughtful along the way, and he also took care of the needs of the group members, making us feel very safe. If you want to experience the Puffing Billy Steam Train and Penguin Parade in a relaxing and fulfilling way, I sincerely and strongly recommend joining Joe's tour; you definitely won't be disappointed!
Quite an expensive tour, with very limited tour guidance. The transport was a 12 person van, and the driver was steady and safe. It was a long day of traveling, getting back passed midnight, and the driver was nice to drop everyone close to home.
Select pick-up location when booking, and pick-up time is to be confirmed the day before the tour. Clean vehicle interior. Flow: assembly -> LUNCH -> PUFFING BILLY -> ZOO -> DINNER -> PENGUIN PARADISE -> return. Smooth tour with plenty of time for each activity. Great tour guide with good sharing throughout the tour.
The tour guide for this trip was Yu, a very attentive and sharing driver and guide. You can ask him about many things, big and small, and he won't be impatient. Our pick-up location was at a hotel across from Southern Cross Station, and it was right on time at 8:30 am. Since it was the last stop, we headed directly to the suburbs after getting on the bus. The vehicle was a mini-van, which was a bit cramped for someone who is 170cm tall, but this depends on the number of people booked, so I can't really give feedback. The price of this package does not include the zoo entrance fee; it costs an extra AUD33 per person. The zoo is not big, and you can walk around it in half an hour. Those who don't go into the zoo can only sit in the cafe outside and eat, drink, and rest. The itinerary follows the arrangement on Klook. After visiting the zoo, around 4 pm, the tour guide will take you to a small town for dinner. The town is very close to Philip Island. The Italian restaurant is delicious, recommended! After dinner, we set off to the last attractions – The Nobbies and Penguin Island. Since November has long days and short nights, we had to wait until about 8:20 pm for the penguins to start coming home. We gathered at 9:10 pm and departed back to the city, which took about two hours. The whole day's activities lasted almost from 8:30 am to 11:30 pm… a very full day. Finally, each person must also give a tip of AUD 5.
pick up point is so close to our hotel. Tour guide 小天 has done his great job on introducing Melbourne to us. Every itinerary is well planned and 小天 made sure us were enjoying the whole journey! I really recommend everyone to join this tour as you can try out the train, visiting some Australia animals and witnessing the little penguins to come home within one day!
Our tour guide, Joe, was excellent. His explanations were clear and detailed, and there was never a dull moment during the entire drive. He continuously shared information about the itinerary, life in Melbourne, and its history. It's truly impressive that he could drive and narrate simultaneously. He is one of the best tour guides I have ever met. The Maru Koala and Animal Park experience was quite good, and I recommend visiting. The train ride is definitely worthwhile. The only downside is that there were fewer penguins since it was the transition from summer to autumn.
The meeting time notified by the platform was not very clear. I saw that it was 10 o'clock, but it was actually 8 o'clock. There was no email reminder before departure, which eventually delayed the morning train trip. After the emergency, the tour guide Xiaotian kept helping to coordinate, and finally caught up with the rest of the trip. Overall, the day was very pleasant, the itinerary was reasonable, the tour guide was responsible and enthusiastic, so the overall experience was five stars. However, it is recommended that the platform notify the meeting place and time by email one day before departure to avoid a lot of trouble.
Purchased a month in advance, the mini train was interesting, but the group carriages were overflowing coupled with the rainy weather, which was a bit awkward. upgrade to see the penguin return to the nest Underground tickets are relatively expensive, because I did not want to blow the wind, so I decided to add $ 65 AUD. Maybe the traffic relationship driver calculated the journey very accurately, every arrival was just to start, a little rushed. But overall to complete these trips K LOOK are are a good choice.
Many thanks to the tour guide for the explanations and transportation on this trip. It was already past 11 PM when the tour finished, and they still dropped us off at our hotel. We were very lucky today to ride a scenic small train, and after that, we went straight to the zoo to see kangaroos and koalas eating; they were all very lively. The most anticipated part, seeing the penguins at night, also delivered, as we saw many of them. It was a truly memorable trip, thank you very much!
The itinerary was very smooth, and the tour guide was professional, friendly, and explained things clearly and understandably. The steam train experience was full of nostalgia, the scenery along the way was beautiful, and it was great for taking photos and checking in! The zoo and Penguin Island are both worth a visit, the animals are lively and cute, and it is suitable for families. The overall activity time was well managed and not too rushed, allowing people to relax and enjoy. Highly recommended for travelers who love nature and history!
