We really had fun! Even though we visited during the rainy season— and it was raining really hard during our small trail, it still made our experience memorable! Our guide, Captain Cook was very funny and very informative! He is also very friendly! He drives really well too! We are thinking of coming back again during the spring season (I think this will be the best time to visit alishan because of the flowers 🥰) Overall, this trip is definitely worth it! I was drawn by the inclusion of the forest railway, so I booked a 2-day, 1-night Alishan trip (outbound: car, return: car + train). After the reservation was confirmed, I received information about what to bring and precautions via LINE. Closer to the date, I also received detailed information about the meeting point, driver's name, and vehicle number, which was reassuring. (All in Chinese, but translation software helped.) The documents provided when boarding the shuttle car also included Japanese, which was easy to understand. The guide spoke Chinese, so I needed someone to translate for me, but there was plenty of explanation time during the 2-hour hike. The paths were well-maintained with wooden decks and stone pavements, so even with my limited stamina and in the rain, I was able to walk comfortably. One word of caution: if you use a private car transfer, there's a high risk of motion sickness because the winding mountain roads have significant inclines. Even though I don't usually get car sick, I felt quite ill during the return transfer from Alishan to Fenqihu and wished I had brought motion sickness medication.

We traveled on the day Super Typhoon Bavi was affecting Taiwan, so we were very grateful that our Taiwan High Speed Rail trip still operated safely and wasn't canceled. It gave us peace of mind and allowed us to continue our travel plans without major disruptions. Booking through Klook was seamless, and redeeming our tickets was quick and easy. The train was clean, comfortable, spacious, and departed on time despite the weather. The stations were well organized with clear signs, making it easy for first-time visitors like us to navigate. Traveling from Taipei to Kaohsiung was smooth, fast, and stress-free. We're truly thankful to the THSR team for their professionalism and commitment to passenger safety. The shuttle bus departs from the rear station of Chiayi Train Station. Please gather 10 minutes early. A reminder SMS will be sent the day before. For the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend, the ferry company provided ferry schedule information by phone the day before departure. Budai Port was very crowded, but the weather and sea conditions were good. The journey to Magong Port took approximately 80 minutes.

A great option if you want to spend more time exploring without feeling rushed. The bus operates on a clear timetable, so it’s easy to plan your day and know exactly when the next departure is. It made getting around stress-free, and I had an absolutely amazing time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to explore at their own pace!

I think it is the most comfortable way to travel to Alishan. The driving was so steady that I could easily fall asleep. Also, it’s great to have a tour guide to talk about the history of Alishan, and having a stop in the middle was great for a rest from the hours long journey.
