Barron River Rafting - Cairns, Port Douglas or Self-Drive

A grade 2 river, a fun experience. River is cold and you WILL get wet. There are no toilets around. Bring a towel else and dry clothes else you’ll be cold on the bus. Not inclusive of AUD30 river levy and photos (AUD59).

It’s a wonderful and exciting trip. It took around 15 minutes from Reef Terminal Bus Stop to there. The guide ‘ John’ was a very professional and taught us a lot of skills for rafting. He helped us to escape from a trap during rafting. We also had a chance to jump from height during the mid of the rafting, it was wonderful. When he knew that it was my birthday, he lead our team to sing birthday song to me during rafting. It’s a very special memorable journey.

Disadvantages: There is no restroom and you cannot go to the restroom for 4-5 hours. Changing clothes on the bus is a bit inconvenient. The coach explained the teaching carefully and attentively. It was very exciting and fun, and I felt reassured by the professional leadership of the coach. I am not forced to buy photos, but this is the cheapest and most cost-effective photo we have participated in multiple travel itineraries, so we bought it. Rafting is also one of our favorite itineraries!

It was a well-organised and fun rafting experience, and it was hassle-free booking with Klook, which we booked only on the night before the trip. The guides were experienced and helpful. There was even a lady in her 70s participating! No worries even if there’s no prior rafting experience. On a section of the rapids that was too intense, we got off the boat and walked to board it again at a later section after the rapids while the guides expertly guided each raft through.

Great itinerary, highly recommended, the coaches are very professional, there will also be photographers, and you can buy photos after the end. Remember to bring a change of clothes.

Very unique and nice experience in Cairns. We had very good time there with the team. They will group you with other participants that it’s nice to meet more people. Overall it’s worthy!

I joined the Barron River rafting tour and was able to experience up close the majestic World Heritage-listed rainforest and the beautiful river scenery. Some parts of the river were thrilling and full of excitement, while others were calm and perfect for enjoying the views, making it suitable even for beginners. You will get completely soaked, so bringing a change of clothes is essential. If you don’t have Crocs, I recommend renting a pair on-site. The staff were friendly, and we had an amazing time filled with laughter.

really fun!! the coach, Zack, is responsible, patient enough to take care everyone’s safety! we really enjoy this activity! highly recommend! it really suitable for the youth aged 12 or above.

yay Zack! he was a great instructor and kept the whole journey fun with his stories. we were lucky and had a great day with Class 4 rapids. would recommend!

We had an awesome time rafting at Barron River!!! Our rafting guide Ash was amazing, fun, and a good chat. They picked us up from our accommodation and dropped us off afterwards. Note there is an additional levy of around $30 per person separate to the booking cost but it is worth it! Don’t miss this experience!
