Fantastic 5.0
We booked a 2-night stay at Yumoto Onsen, and thankfully we bought the 4-day pass – it was such a great value! We even took the bus down the mountain to a supermarket in front of the station to stock up on some food. The scenery along the bus route was beautiful. We also visited Lake Chuzenji. It was windy and very cold in January, but the buses were frequent, and we could catch the next bus in about 20 minutes, which was very convenient. I highly recommend that travelers staying for one night or more definitely buy the 4-day pass to easily travel long distances by bus. However, if you are only planning to visit attractions near the Toshogu Shrine World Heritage Site, then buying the 2-day pass is sufficient.

Smooth transaction and ride. We could have gotten this at a lower rate if we booked early, but due to the need to wait for visa, we only booked 2 weeks before our trip. It was easy to book and request to be dropped off at disney hotel rather than at Disneyland.

I was very impressed with Next Tour's service for a 10-hour private Fuji tour. The team's coordination was excellent; they created a chat group in advance to confirm the itinerary and contact numbers. Our driver, Mr. Shrestha, arrived before the scheduled time, was very polite, and drove smoothly and safely. Even though it rained on the day of our tour and the weather wasn't ideal, making it difficult to see Mount Fuji clearly, Mr. Shrestha made an effort to take care of us and helped us check in at various spots. He communicated well in English, which made the trip very smooth. I highly recommend this service for anyone traveling to Japan with family or friends.

The unlimited pass is a great value. Just the two bus trips from Kinugawa Onsen to Yunishikawa Onsen already exceed the total value of the pass. Add in the cost of transportation to Ryuo-kyo Gorge, and you'll save a lot of money. It's very cost-effective. It also saves you the trouble of looking for change when getting off the bus, which is really convenient.

It was an amazing experience. Glad that I booked this trip during winter on 20-Jan. Lake Chuzenji was amazing with the Mt Nantai as the backdrop. Kegon waterfall was mystical in winter snow. Toshogu Shrine lives up to its reputation as a UNESCO heritage site.

What to know before visiting Nikko

Discover Nikko’s sights and seasonal rhythm

Nikko is a compact cultural getaway known for tours, theme-park visits, attraction passes and memorable cultural experiences. Booking patterns show a strong late-autumn spike in interest, with quieter travel through mid-summer and early spring.

Best months to visit for crowds and price

Klook booking data shows demand peaks in November and bottoms out in August. Prices drift through the year with October typically the cheapest month and May the priciest; note that the cheapest month named is based on Klook booking data and described as typical. If you want smaller crowds and lower prices, October and the quieter months around August and September suit well; for the full autumn atmosphere aim for November when demand is highest. Prices and demand do not always move together here — for example May can be relatively expensive even though it isn’t the top booking month.

Tips for travellers from Australia

Most visitors from Australia book ahead: typical bookings are made around three weeks before travel, with many locking in plans well over a month in advance during busier periods. If your trip is flexible you can still find options a week out, but for popular tours and cultural experiences consider planning earlier to secure preferred dates on Klook.
