Fantastic 5.0
The hotel does not provide a shuttle bus. There's quite a distance from the station to the hotel, and the worst part is a rocky path leading to the hotel, which makes pulling luggage very difficult and is extremely damaging to the wheels. Other hotel facilities are excellent.

Fantastic 5.0
The location is perfect for walking to all of the shrines and temples in Nikko. We stayed in the renovated complex, which we definitely recommend, as the rest of the property is a bit dated (though it still has charm and history). For arrival, you should either travel with light luggage or take a taxi (cost is about 1,100 yen from the station), as the final stretch to the hotel is quite steep and not well-suited for rolling suitcases.

Great 4.0
Convenience of transportation: Close to Tobu-Nikko Station, about a 5-minute walk. Very convenient transportation. Cleanliness: The room was clean and tidy. I booked a three-night stay this time and had a good experience overall. Breakfast: It wasn't possible to select breakfast during booking, but it was actually included. Personally, I thought the breakfast was very abundant, featuring eggs, milk, salad, bread, and curry rice.

Fantastic 5.0
The staff speak English and are very accommodating. I had gotten the wrong course for dinner but I wasn’t going to complain because it was my fault and they saw that the food wasn’t really my style so they let me do the buffet instead. Highly recommend checking out the onsen at night and the morning because the genders swap sides everyday so you can see both views. Sidenote, the burger place across the street is great!

Fantastic 5.0
the 2 days pass is worth taking. we took the local train which is only one hour more than limited express. and the frequency of the train is very fast. unlike limited express, although is more comfortable, the ticket has to purchase in advance. the free bus ride allow us to take from station to the shinkyo bridge, then to the temple and back to hotel for 2 days. however, the bus is crowded. sometimes, we walk for short distance instead.

Fantastic 5.0
Smooth transaction and ride. We could have gotten this at a lower rate if we booked early, but due to the need to wait for visa, we only booked 2 weeks before our trip. It was easy to book and request to be dropped off at disney hotel rather than at Disneyland.

Fantastic 5.0
A must-visit for traveling to Nikko. If you have enough time, it is recommended to stay in Nikko for 4 days and 3 nights—two nights at Lake Chuzenji and one night at Yumoto Onsen—so you can enjoy the peaceful and deserted lakeside in the morning. Mobile network signals in Nikko are still not very reliable, so it is recommended to print out physical tickets in advance to avoid any anxiety during ticket checks for buses or boats.

Fantastic 5.0
Mr Shindou is very kind & helpful. Reccomended and drove us to lots of places within the timeframe despite traffic congestion along the way. He was punctual during pick up & overall was a safe driver. Highly recommend him to anyone who wish to take this service up, it’s worth the extra money for convenience & it’s less hassle.

What to know before visiting Nikko

What to do in Nikko throughout the year

Nikko’s top activities are led by Tours, followed by Theme parks and Attraction passes, with Cultural experiences and Cable cars also appearing in bookings. Klook booking data shows visitor interest peaks in November when autumn colours draw crowds, while August is the quietest month. That seasonal rhythm makes Nikko a place for nature and heritage-led day trips in peak season and more relaxed sightseeing in quieter months. For planning, decide whether you want peak autumn atmosphere or quieter, more flexible travel — Klook booking data helps time your visit.

When to visit and typical prices

November and October are the busiest months for Nikko, while August is the quietest; prices move through the year with a clear low in October and a high in May, so sometimes crowds and prices align and sometimes they don’t. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds aim for October or August; if you prefer peak-season atmosphere for autumn colours choose November or December despite higher demand. Klook booking data underpins both demand and price trends.

Tips for travellers from Australia

Most travellers from Australia book well ahead — Klook booking data shows people typically lock things in about 23 days ahead, with the earliest planners booking around 43 days out. Treat Nikko as a short-trip destination you can often still arrange within a few weeks, but book earlier for November and October when demand peaks. Many tours and theme-park options sell out in peak months, so if you need specific dates or larger group spaces secure them sooner rather than later. Use Klook to compare options and lock in flexible bookings with confidence.
