It was a great day! Although long & communication being a challenge at times it was overcome by Chem, helpful tour mates,& Google Translator The experience was well worth it. The driver was amazing, driving for all those hours unperturbed. It snowed on the way to Qinghai Lake, making it cold & taking photos tricky, but it made the images more interesting. Chaka Salt Lake is a must see but be careful with train stops as you can spend more time than you'd planned. Stops 1 & 2 were my favourites.

Driver followed our planned itinerary and brought us to clean rest stops throughout the trip. However, the journey was extremely tiring with long driving hours every day. The driver appeared to be unwell and was coughing throughout the trip, which affected the overall experience. We were also dropped at the wrong hotel on the last day and had to contact the driver to return and pick us up. Overall, the trip was completed as planned but the experience could have been better organised.

Our small group of 6 people (out of 2-8) had a very comfortable business van. The wind was strong at Riyue Mountain Pass, and the prayer flags looked beautiful as they fluttered. Although the grassland wasn't fully green yet, its vastness made for great photos. We were lucky at Chaka Salt Lake; the weather was clear and windless, making for a perfect "Sky Mirror" effect. Walking barefoot in the saltwater was a bit cold but bearable. The two-day tour wasn't rushed. On the first night, we stayed in a clean hotel in Chaka Town and even saw stars. Our driver was a local and helped us avoid the peak times when tour groups gather. This season, there are fewer people and tickets are cheaper, making it feel like we had the place to ourselves. It was definitely worth it.

Our guide, Xiao Guan, was easygoing and cheerful, and very talkative. He shared local customs and traditions throughout the journey, making the long drives full of laughter. What was most impressive was his thoughtfulness: before we got out at each attraction, he would provide detailed touring tips in advance. He also flexibly adjusted our itinerary based on the weather and available time. Along the way, he didn't forget to recommend authentic local dishes, and thanks to him, we discovered several small eateries known only to locals. With him, the entire trip was worry-free and enjoyable. Highly recommended!
