Fantastic 5.0
Gorgeous sunny day out for this Mt Rainier National Park trip. The driver, also our guide, was helpful and safely took us to see the highlights of the park, including the waterfalls and Reflection Lakes with still some time for short hikes. We are lucky to see Mt Rainier, still an active volcano covered by snow, clearly on this beautiful day.

Fantastic 5.0
I joined a Klook day tour (the easiest option for solo travelers) to Leavenworth, a German-themed town about a 2-hour drive east of Seattle. On the way, we stopped at Snoqualmie Falls, a very tall waterfall, over 80 meters high. Even from a distance at the observation deck, I could still feel the mist from the falls. Later, on the way out, not long after we started driving, we encountered a herd of wild elk – probably more than I saw last week at Yellowstone National Park! Our guide even stopped the car so we could get out and take pictures, which was incredibly lucky! Leavenworth instantly made me feel like I was in Europe (even though there was a large group of Americans around). Since I couldn't possibly eat a whole pork knuckle by myself, I just ordered some German sausage.

Driving from Seattle to Vancouver takes about 2 hours, so joining a day tour is really simple and convenient! You can unlock all the highlights in just one day, including Granville Island, Gastown Steam Clock, Canada Place, and Stanley Park. These pretty much cover all the must-see, classic attractions!

What to know before visiting Seattle

What people book most and when to go

Seattle’s top bookings are led by attraction passes, followed by observation decks and a mix of tours and cruises, with zoo and aquarium visits rounding out the list. Demand rises through spring, peaks in July, then eases into autumn and hits a low in November, so summer is the busiest season for these activities.

Best activities for families, couples and solo travellers

Families will find zoos & aquariums and cruises especially easy and affordable options, with relaxed pacing and lower entry‑level prices. Couples often opt for observation decks and attraction passes for panoramic views and flexible sightseeing. Solo travellers and small groups will enjoy the variety in tours, which offer the widest range of experiences and price points to suit different budgets.

What travellers from Australia tend to book in advance

Most visitors from Australia book fairly close to arrival — many activities can be picked up a day or two beforehand — but the earliest planners often secure things about a week ahead. Booking ahead matters most in the peak month of July, when demand climbs noticeably and popular time‑slot‑based activities fill up sooner.

How categories compare on price and who they suit

Zoos & aquariums sit at the entry level and are the easiest way into Seattle’s activity scene, making them good value for families and budget‑minded visitors. Observation decks and cruises fall into a mid‑range bracket, appealing to sightseers and couples looking for scenic experiences. Tours are the priciest on average and also offer the widest spread of options, so they suit travellers who want specialised or premium experiences and are prepared to pay more for variety.
