Chom Bueng

December to February offers the most comfortable temperatures and is prime time for the Chom Bueng Sunflower Fields when they are in full bloom, typically from November to January. The cool season is also the most pleasant for cave exploration. December and January are when hotel prices in the district are generally at their lowest, making it an excellent value season to visit.

From Bangkok, minivans and buses to Ratchaburi depart from the Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai), taking about 1.5 hours to reach Ratchaburi town. From there, local songthaews or taxis connect to Chom Bueng, about 40 km further. By car, take Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road) south from Bangkok toward Ratchaburi, then continue on Highway 3087 toward Chom Bueng. The total drive from Bangkok takes about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Chom Bueng town itself is small and can be navigated on foot or by motorbike taxi. For attractions like Tham Khao Bin Cave, the Grand Canyon, and the sunflower fields, which are spread across the surrounding countryside, a rented motorbike or private car is recommended. Some guesthouses and local agencies can arrange transport to key sites.

Accommodation options in Chom Bueng are limited to basic guesthouses and small local hotels near the town center. Most travelers choose to stay in Ratchaburi town, which has a wider range of hotels, and visit Chom Bueng on a day trip. For a more rural experience, a few small resorts and campgrounds in the hills around the district offer a nature-immersive alternative. Kanchanaburi, about 70 km to the west, also makes a scenic and better-serviced alternative base.
