Fantastic 5.0
It was absolutely a wonderful trip for us. The bus was so comfortable that we did not feel tired though the travelling distance was more than 800km. Geri who was our guide was a wonderful guide. We were able to see the iceberg and other natural heritages of the South Coast. Absolutely amazing!!!!

Fantastic 5.0
Great trip! Our guide was a retired Icelandic man who is very knowledgeable. I have brought some snacks with me and decided to skip the dine-in lunch. The guide arranged me to take a scenic hike trail around the town of Arnarstapi. Highly recommended!

Fantastic 5.0
Jessica was a fantastic guide from Bus Travel Iceland-friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout the trip. We were lucky to have sunny weather, which made the views along the road even more stunning. The tour was well organized, everyone stayed on schedule, and the experience was smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended when visiting Iceland!

Great 4.0
The itinerary was fairly smooth, and we visited several Golden Circle attractions. However, it rained heavily that day, and with the dense fog, visibility was extremely low. We could barely see the scenery along the way, which was a real shame, and because of this, we didn't truly experience the original beauty of Iceland's sights.

Great 4.0
The Blue Ice Cave is truly one of Iceland's must-do activities. Walking on the ice with crampons was also a very novel experience. Our guide was extremely professional and friendly; in addition to providing expert commentary, they even chatted with us in some Chinese, which was fun. I think it would be perfect if the activity duration could be extended just a little bit.

Fantastic 5.0
It was pretty good! The flow of people at the site was very smooth, and before getting into the water, they briefly explained the swimming route. The guide initially said that if you got tired, you could rest, and verbally told us which areas we couldn't go into (because they were too deep). I thought it would be fine to just follow the guide, but he barely stopped, so if you don't keep up with him, you'll fall behind. You pretty much have to keep swimming until you reach a crevice where he'll take a photo for you, and then you'll loop back to another landing point. It's about a 1.5-hour swim with few breaks. Once you get out, they give you an energy bar and hot chocolate. The guide was very nice. If I had more stamina, I would have enjoyed it even more! Also, one of my companions had water get into their drysuit and was very cold halfway through the swim, so if possible, remember to bring an extra change of clothes and some cold medicine.

The captain tried their best to look for whales/ any wildlifes during the boat ride. We saw dolphins at the end.

What to know before visiting Reykjavik

Top experiences at a glance

Reykjavik’s most-booked activities are its wide range of Tours, followed by Outdoor & sports activities, with Museums and Events also drawing steady interest; demand builds through January to a big peak in February, then falls to a low in April before recovering later in the year. Tours dominate overall bookings while outdoor adventures show the strongest price spread, so the city mixes accessible guided experiences with higher‑end active options.

Best picks for families, couples and solo travellers

Families will find Museums and Events & shows an easy fit — affordable, low‑stress options that work well with kids. Couples often choose Tours and Outdoor & sports activities for shared sightseeing and nature experiences that scale from comfortable to premium. Solo travellers and small groups can mix Tours, Indoor games and Museums for flexible, lower‑cost days with chances to meet others or go self‑paced.

What travellers from Australia should book ahead

Most things in Reykjavik can be booked a day or two out, but Australians who plan ahead typically lock activities in about a week to beyond that, and the earliest planners book around a month in advance. Booking ahead matters most in the peak period of February, when demand is noticeably higher.

How categories compare on price and who they suit

Indoor games are the easiest way in on price, representing the most budget‑friendly median and a simple option for casual visitors or groups. Museums and Events sit in the lower to mid price band and suit culture‑minded travellers looking for value. Tours occupy the middle ground on price but account for the bulk of bookings, making them the dependable, mid‑range choice. Outdoor & sports activities are both the priciest on median and the widest in price range, catering to travellers seeking premium or specialised active experiences.
