Sunway Lagoon Theme Park
With over 90 attractions spread across 88 acres of land,
Sunway Lagoon theme park is divided into 6 adventure zones
and is a huge space to explore! From twisting water slides to the world's largest surf pool and even the first Nickelodeon-themed attraction in Asia, it's pretty impossible to cover each and every attraction here in a single day.
To help you maximize your time and fun at the theme park, we've gathered some useful tips and a suggested itinerary that will hopefully help you plan your visit!
Family Fun At Sunway Lagoon
Sunway Lagoon has always been a popular family outing spot - whether you're planning a visit with your toddler or teenage child, the theme park is filled with rides and attractions suitable for children of all ages.
Where Should I Start?
If you've never been to Sunway Lagoon, here's a warning: it's pretty huge. There are 6 adventure zones in the park (2 water parks and 4 dry parks) offering a variety of different fun attractions. The 6 adventure zones are:
Amusement Park
Scream Park
Water Park
Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon
Wildlife Park
Extreme Park
Even if you only have one day, it's still possible to visit all 6 parks in Sunway Lagoon! We'd suggest
starting out at the dry parks first and then spend the rest of the day at the water parks. If you'd like to check out a breakdown of what to expect at each adventure zone, read our
complete Sunway Lagoon visit guide here.
Kid-Friendly Rides
While there are height requirements for most water rides and a handful of dry attractions at Sunway Lagoon, there's still lots of fun in store even for toddlers and babies. If your child is at least 110cm tall, they'll be able to hop on most rides in the theme park! Here's a list of rides with height requirements in Sunway Lagoon:

Suggested Itinerary With Children Below 120cm
Visiting with a toddler that does not meet the height requirement for most water rides? We've got your back! Check out our suggested itinerary for your theme park visit.
First Stop: Amusement Park
Once you enter the theme park, start your day at the Amusement Park, where you can bring your little ones on the Ferris Wheel, Merry-Go-Round, Apache Pots, and The Vultures (aeroplane ride).
Next, pop by the Wild Wild West section with a cowboy and red Indian theme, and hop on the Colorado Splash, Grand Canyon River Rapids, and Butch Cassidy Trail rides! Don't forget to pop by Fun World, a funfair-themed corner where you can play games and stand a chance to win plush toys and other prizes.
Second Stop: Wildlife Park
Once you've covered all the rides you wish to try at the Amusement Park, it's time to say hello to over 150 species of animals at Sunway Lagoon's Wildlife Park! This zone is great for your little ones, especially if they love animals.
There are tons of opportunities to get up-close and personal with a wide variety of gentle creatures such as birds, rabbits, giant tortoises, and ostriches at the Pet Village and Mini Zoo areas. Your children can even pet, feed, and ride selected animals and learn about them through an interactive and experiential learning experience.
While you're at the Wildlife Park, don't forget to pop by the Wild Encounters section and catch a glimpse of majestic white lions, meerkats, sun bears, panthers, tigers, and other exotic animals.
Third Stop: Lunch
After conquering two zones in the park, you will likely be tired, thirsty and hungry around noon. There are many snack stands and restaurants located throughout the park, including Marry Brown, Cubes Pizza, Burger King, Subway, and more. Check out our
complete Sunway Lagoon guide for a full list of eateries.
Fourth Stop: Water Park
Once you're fueled up, it's time to head to the Water Park! Start off at the Surf Beach and Wave Pool, a man-made wonder where your family can soak in the sun, laze by the beach, or splash around. Stretching over 13,000 square metres, the pool is capable of churning out perfectly shaped waves of up to a maximum height of eight-feet.
Let your little ones build sandcastles and splash around here. You can book an
Equipment Combo on Klook that includes rental of a
double tube that your children will love.
Fifth Stop: Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon
This zone is a new addition to Sunway Lagoon in 2016, and has definitely become a crowd-favourite. While there are height restrictions for most rides at the Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, there's still a handful of sections that are great for children below the height of 120cm. First, head for the Explorer's Trail and join the trail of the tribesman up on the trees. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the surroundings along this trail.
Next, head to the popular Spongebob Splash Adventure, where your little ones can spend hours playing with the water guns and slides! Stand beneath the huge bucket and wait for it to tip over once it's filled up. You can even get drenched with slime during 'Slime Time' if you visit at 4PM on weekends!
If your child does not meet the height requirement (100cm) for Spongebob Splash Adventure, they can have just as much fun at Splish Splash, a water playground suited for younger children located in the same area. Splish Splash features interactive water sprays, water jets, forts, and control pipes that your little ones will love!
#KlookTip: There are meet-and-greet sessions with characters like Spongebob, Patrick, and Dora the Explorer at the Lost Lagoon throughout the day. We've attached a meet-and-greet schedule at the bottom of this article! Save it up so you don't miss out on these fun opportunities to take photos with the characters.
Suggested Itinerary With Children Above 120cm
If your child is above 120cm tall, they can pretty much hop on most rides and attractions in Sunway Lagoon - including the roller coaster, pirate's ship, and Vuvuzela, the tallest water slide in the world!
Unless you're visiting with younger children or children who are not big fans of water slides and extreme rides, we'd suggest
allocating more time for the water parks, as there are lots of fun slides to conquer, and waiting lines can be long if you're visiting during a weekend or public holiday (alternatively, add-on a
Quack Xpress Express Lane Pass and you'll be skipping the queue in no time).
Add these rides onto your checklist:
Vuvuzela (Water Park)
African Pythons (Water Park)
Waterplexx 5D (Water Park)
Congo Challenge (Water Park)
Monsoon 360 (Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon)
Lost City of Gold Scream Coaster (Amusement Park)
Pirate's Revenge (Amusement Park)
You can also add Scream Park to your schedule if your child is up for it. The Scream Park is recommended for children aged 7 years old and above - younger children may enter as well under the accompaniment of adults.
Practical Tips For Your Visit
1. What Time To Head Over?
Arrive at the park early to avoid the heat and crowds as much as possible - and so that you can start your day when your children have a full energy bar. Once you enter the park, head straight for the popular rides before it gets crowded! Alternatively, book a
Quack Xpress Express Lane Pass so you won't have to worry about the queues (super worth it, trust us!)
2. Rent A Locker
Heading to the theme park with children in tow means heavy bags filled with all the things you figured to "just bring, who knows we'll need it?". Unfortunately, it's inconvenient to lug around heavy bags while walking around a huge theme park, and personal belongings are not allowed on majority of the rides at Sunway Lagoon. Thankfully, there are lockers at various locations throughout the park where you can stow away all the baggage you don't need to bring around.
Locker rental rates start at RM25 for a standard-sized locker, but you can book an
Equipment Combo pass on Klook that comes inclusive of rental of
1 standard multi-use locker, a
double tube, and an
RM40 meal voucher! Add it on when you book your tickets online so you don't have to go through the hassle of booking over the counter when you head over.
3. Get An Express Pass
Nothing is worse than waiting in line under the sun with children who have a tendency to get upset and moody while in queue. Add on a
Quack Xpress Express Lane Pass and you'll be able to skip-the-queue at popular attractions in the park!
With this magic pass, your little ones can go on their favourite rides again and again without having to join the queue. Enjoy a discounted rate when you book your admission ticket and Quack Xpress Pass on
Klook.
4. Make Use Of The Lagoon Express
We all know how grumpy the little ones can get in the sun or when they get tired - thankfully, there's a little train that goes around Sunway Lagoon which you can take advantage of once that happens! The Lagoon Express is a life-sized train that's a savior for little feet and the parents - it runs at 30-minute intervals, making stops at the Water Park, Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, and Wildlife Park. It'll also allow you to enjoy a nice tour of the park when you get tired!
5. Pack Accordingly
Know what to expect at the theme park and pack accordingly to ensure a fun, stress-free day with your family! If you're visiting with children, here are some things to add to your packing checklist:
Cash
Sunscreen
Towels and toiletries
A change of clothes
Waterproof phone pouch
Arm floaties
6. Save The Meet-And-Greet Schedule
Just like in most other theme parks, you'll get the chance to meet-and-greet characters at Sunway Lagoon! Character appearances are scheduled throughout the day, where you can snap photos, hug, and high-five Sunway Lagoon's mascots Captain Quack and friends, as well as Nickelodeon characters like Spongebob, Patrick, Dora the Explorer, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Save up the meet-and-greet schedule so you don't miss out on the timings!
Character | Location | Time |
---|
Captain Quack & Friends | Carousel Stage | 10 - 1020AM 1030 - 1050AM 530 - 550PM |
Spongebob & Patrick | Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon | 1230 - 1250PM |
Spongebob | Spongebob Splash Adventure | 4 - 420PM |
Bani (Wildlife Park Ambassador) | Rimba | 1130 - 1150AM |
Dora the Explorer & Boots | Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon | 3 - 320PM |
Dora the Explorer | Spongebob Splash Adventure | 420 - 440PM |
Note: The meet-and-greet schedule may be subject to change, do double-confirm the timings beforehand on the Sunway Lagoon official site to avoid disappointment.
7. Book A Stay Near The Theme Park
Worried your little ones will get tired after a full day out in the sun? Book a stay close to the theme park so you can either head to the theme park early after a good night's sleep or head back to the hotel after a fun day out.
Located right next to Sunway Lagoon (with views overlooking the theme park!),
Sunway Clio Hotel offers a comfortable stay in big, air-conditioned rooms within walkable distance to the theme park. Book your
stay package that comes inclusive of
theme park tickets,
breakfast, and
access to all hotel facilities. Other Visit Guides
