A Surreal Oceanfront Lagoon

Move aside, Blue Lagoon, a new geothermal lagoon is set to open in Iceland in 2021! Located just minutes from Reykjavik's city centre, the new oceanfront lagoon called Sky Lagoon will come with breathtaking features including a swim-up in-lagoon bar and a 70-meter infinity-edge that will blend seamlessly with the ocean landscape.

Nestled against the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, visitors will get to take in impressive views of the expansive ocean while reconnecting with their mind, body, and spirit. Besides the geothermal pool, Sky Lagoon will also house a cold pool, sauna, and a space for dining and shopping.

Sky Lagoon will serve as a venue for visitors to enjoy tranquil relaxation and rejuvenation, and if you're lucky, you'll even be able to catch a stunning sunset, or witness the Northern Lights dance before your eyes while submerged in warm water! If you visit after nightfall, you'll catch the stars blinking right above your head.

According to the General Manager of Sky Lagoon, Dagny Petursddotir, the lagoon is being designed with the gorgeous landscape of Iceland in mind, and will be an oasis within the city. The infinity-edge of the lagoon will blend perfectly with the ocean landscape, and there will also be architectural elements influenced by traditional Icelandic turf houses.

Sky Lagoon is currently under construction and is scheduled to open its doors in spring 2021. While 2020 has been a dissapointing year for many so far, we believe clear skies are not far ahead, and there seems to be amazing things to look forward to in 2021!
