Things to do in Dole Plantation

We truly had an amazing time on this tour! Our guide, Jonah, was so knowledgeable, genuinely passionate, and incredibly friendly from start to finish. Since we didn’t rent a car this trip, getting picked up right from the Hilton made everything feel easy and relaxing. We got to explore different parts of the island and visit so many local favorite spots. Along the way, we tried delicious local foods like garlic shrimp rice, fresh fruit from roadside stands, and pineapple ice cream. One of the most memorable moments was spotting sea turtles — such a special experience! We also enjoyed relaxing at the beach, feeding chickens and baby chicks, and taking in all the beautiful scenery. Jonah shared a lot of interesting local history and stories throughout the day, which made the experience feel even more authentic and meaningful. We left feeling happy, full, and grateful for such a fun day. Highly recommend this tour if you want to experience the island without the stress of driving!

The Guide John W. (David) was FANTASTIC! We learnt a lot from him, as he told us a lot about Hawaii during the tour. The tour finished early at 3.30pm, so clearly it was possible to add quick 5-minute photo stops for some of the places we only drove past. It is sad that there are too many drive past sights

This tour offers a wealth of attractions, and our guide, Nani, was excellent, providing commentary on all the sights throughout the bus ride. The pepper shrimp rice was incredibly delicious. The only downside was that the water where we were supposed to see sea turtles was murky due to a previous hurricane, making snorkeling difficult. However, we still managed to see sea turtles coming ashore to feed. Our guide also kindly took us to the harbor afterward to see and feed fish. This trip is a must-do on Oahu.

Although the weather wasn't ideal, our tour guide and driver, Moe, was very dedicated to introducing the sights and allowed us enough time to explore beyond the beaches and see different natural landscapes of Hawaii, even on a short one-day trip. We would love to come back for a more in-depth tour in the future!

Initially, the bus arrived 15 minutes late to the meeting point, but that was my only moment of anxiety. The free malasadas, the magnificent nature and scenery, Dole Plantation, seeing sea turtles while snorkeling, the exquisite garlic shrimp, and the Jurassic Park filming locations—everything was so packed that 10 hours flew by in an instant. Our tour guide, Dirk, seemed to have been an English teacher in Tokyo, so he was fluent in Japanese. Since everyone else in our group was foreign, the tour was conducted entirely in English, but when he spoke to us, he used fluent Japanese. He was so proficient that he could even crack jokes in Japanese. This was my first time in Hawaii, and I'm already planning to go back soon.
