Reviews of Barcelona hotels

Fantastic 5.0
I found Hotel SB Plaza Europa to be a solid mid-range option, especially if I’m looking for good value rather than a central location. The rooms feel clean and modern, and I’m generally comfortable with the bed and amenities. I also like that there’s a rooftop pool, gym, sauna, and an on-site restaurant with a decent breakfast. The staff come across as friendly and helpful, and I appreciate how convenient the location is for the airport, Fira Barcelona, and the nearby Gran Via 2 shopping mall. That said, the biggest downside for me is that it’s not in central Barcelona, so I have to travel about 15–20 minutes to reach major attractions like La Rambla or the Gothic Quarter. I also notice that standard rooms can feel a bit small, and things like breakfast and parking cost extra. Overall, I see it as a comfortable and practical choice if I don’t mind staying outside the city center, but not the best fit if I want everything within walking distance.

Fantastic 5.0
Really nice design style hotel in a great location. The room was big an the bed was very comfortable and there was a free upgrade too. The roof terrace has a view of the Sagrada Familia and the restaurant had a lovely garden.

More about Barcelona hotels

Getting a feel for staying in Barcelona

Staying in Barcelona shows a noticeable spread between budget and top-end rooms — the most expensive options run roughly 2.4 times the price of the cheapest. The best balance of price and quality tends to sit in the premium tier, which is where many travellers find strong value for money.

How the hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy rooms sit well below the city average and suit travellers prioritising low cost over extras. Standard rooms step up from economy and are a sensible middle ground for many visitors. Premium rooms represent the best-value tier and are the most popular compromise between comfort and price; moving from premium up to luxury is the biggest price jump to consider. Luxury rooms sit at the top end and are notably more expensive than premium, appealing to travellers who prioritise a higher-end stay.

When travellers book

The priciest month is July and the cheapest month is January; budget-led trips fit best in January when rates are lowest. Typical bookings are made around 39 days in advance, so many travellers lock in rooms a little over a month ahead, with more advance planning common for stays in the priciest month.
