Kinmen

Super happy! I had originally booked a trip to Dadan Island for February 7th. On February 6th, before boarding the plane, I received a call from the travel agency saying that the waves would be too high on February 7th and 8th, so the trip was canceled and needed to be changed to February 6th. After picking up our luggage around 12 pm on February 6th, the B&B owner took us to Jiugong Wharf and we successfully boarded the island.

Initially, I was worried it might not be good based on the photos, but after the actual experience, I felt the guided tour and explanation were truly worthwhile. I don't have any military sentiment, so I didn't feel anything particularly special about Dadan Island, but it's still worth visiting once in a lifetime. If you have children, I recommend taking the car.

I was the only person that day, but thankfully the tour still went ahead. The tour guide was very professional and made every effort to explain and introduce everything, even though I was the only one. A generous lunch was provided at the end of the tour. Overall, it was a great experience!

In addition to visiting the winery, there was also time to see other attractions on this trip. Many thanks to our guide, Mr. Chen, for his detailed explanations. Kinmen is a beautiful place, distinct from other islands, and well worth spending a few extra days to explore each site thoroughly.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the environment was meticulously maintained. The shower water pressure was stable and strong, making for a very relaxing shower. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic. Overall, the stay was very satisfying and worth returning to.

Overall, it was pretty good. The cleanliness of the restroom needs improvement. We checked in on a Thursday night, so it was quiet with no noise. If you're sensitive to noise, earplugs are available downstairs! It's also very close to the General's Headquarters, which is a nice place to visit.

Since this rental scooter is 125cc, a Japanese standard driver's license alone is not sufficient to ride it. (Mopeds that can be ridden with a Japanese standard driver's license are 125cc or less and have a maximum output of 4.0kW or less.) The staff suggested that since I couldn't ride the scooter with my standard license, I could switch to a car or an electric scooter that doesn't require a license, so I chose the electric scooter. The electric scooter had a higher daily rental fee, so I paid the difference. The electric scooter doesn't go faster than 25km/h, so in a way, it might be safer. They also lend out helmets (though the size was big...). The staff were very helpful, using a translation app to explain various things. It's also convenient that I can return it at Kinmen Airport.

Chi Lee was an absolute gem of a guide. From the moment we arrived, he was friendly, professional, and packed with local and historical knowledge that brought Kinmen to life. He made the most of our limited time on the island, maximizing every hour without ever feeling rushed. What really stood out was his flexibility — he adapted the itinerary on the fly to match our interests rather than following a rigid script. To top it off, he personally came into the airport to make sure we caught our flight on time. That kind of dedication is rare. Highly recommend Chi Lee to anyone visiting Kinmen!
