Situated on the west coast of Bali’s south, you’ll find a 3 km-long stretch of white sand beach that’s perfect if you want to chill and get your tan on. Though it may be a bit crowded because it’s so popular, the laid-back ambiance more than makes up for it.

It’s become a popular spot for tourists over the years, so it’s best to visit early in the morning before the crowds. After getting your tickets, follow the pathway and go left to the viewpoint, where you can take stunning photos of the 25-meter-high waterfall.

Once you arrive at the main entrance, you’ll cross bamboo bridges and rocky pathways as the waterfall slowly reveals itself. Also known as the Gates of Heaven because of its otherworldly appearance, it’s one of the oldest and most highly regarded temples on the island, in addition to being the most popular spot for Bali photos. There’s no lake by the temple but you can achieve the reflective effect by holding a mirror under your camera lens.
