Reviews summaryUpon arriving at the stargazing spot, the staff had each member lie down on a lounge chair and provided a thick blanket (the temperature was only a few degrees, very cold). The first step was to observe with the naked eye, and the staff used a celestial pointer to point to the starry sky while explaining astronomical knowledge to us. After viewing with the naked eye, we used a telescope 🔭 to stargaze. There were two telescopes, and the pictures are mostly taken with the smaller one (small, but very powerful). We saw Jupiter's stripes, the Milky Way, a gentle close-up of the moon, and the stars around the Southern Cross, etc. I was so moved that I wanted to cry. Seeing it in person is so much better than in the photos, because you feel like they are alive, they are moving, they are blooming ⭐ The staff also provided everyone with a cup of hot chocolate during the process, and took photos of each team member as a souvenir. Finally, we all gathered around the stove to roast marshmallows 🍡 and happily ended my stargazing trip ~ 🤗
Though the weather and the sky is not as clear as expected, the whole tour experience was actually quite nice. Good for those who love to learn more about Astronomy. Very knowledgable instructor and very good story telling. Romantic experience sitting there with warm clothes, drinks and BBQ-ed mashmallow 🤭
we saw the Milky Way and learned a lot about stars. I recommend doing this towards to start of your trip- especially if the moon is not full. that way, you can keep spotting stars for the rest of the trip.
On the day of the event, we will inform you whether the weather conditions are suitable for stargazing. Fortunately, the sky is clear and it is suitable. When I drove to the designated location at night, there were clear signs telling me the location. Tables and blankets have been placed in the stargazing area. The staff's detailed explanations helped me learn a lot about astronomy. I also saw the Milky Way, the Southern Cross, Sirius, etc., and I also saw many nebulae through the telescope. Before the end, there was still hot chocolate and marshmallows burning around the fire. The staff also helped me take a photo with the Milky Way. Fortunately, I also took a photo of the Aurora Australis!
Had a magical experience under the stars and night sky with George and team! We were provided blankets , nice comfortable chairs throughout the experience + hot chocolate and even a fire pit for marshmallows to end the night with. George and team imparted years of studies and experience of the night sky to explain to us in simple terms and what to lookout for, even had pictures with their telescopic camera after the tour. A must do when you are in NZ TEKAPO. George informed us on the day if tour was good to go and if changes had to be made when skies are cloudy or bad weather. Thank you for arranging such a thoughtful tour!
The tour guide thoughtfully prepared hot chocolate with marshmallows and blankets for us, so we could lie on the grassland and watch the Southern Hemisphere's starry sky. They explained the names of each star and how to find the South Celestial Pole. It was a night full of knowledge and romance ☺️. They also gave us reusable cocoa cups, and every time I see that cup, I remember the starry sky that night ☺️☺️.
You will receive an email before departure. Tell you the weather forecast. If the weather is bad, a refund will be issued. We received an email before departure that the weather would be 70% cloudy. You can go to the site and try it out for 10 minutes before choosing to continue or get a refund. After we discussed it, we felt that when we arrived, although there were clouds, we could all see the stars. Felts will be provided on site, which is indeed much warmer! And there were hot chocolate and marshmallow treats afterwards. Go to New Zealand. You can try stargazing
I had so much fun!!!!!!!! I didn't realize I'd get to experience being so close to calves and lambs, haha. The direct interaction time was incredibly enjoyable. It's truly delightful to be with the sheep without any restrictions, so just be aware that there might be a few unexpected situations. Also, there's a lot of poop on the ground, so please use the brush in front of the restroom, haha.
Originally, I was worried that the trip would not be possible due to rain in the afternoon, but I received a notice that the show would be held at 23:15 in the afternoon, and the weather conditions would be confirmed at 22:45 at the latest. As a result, the sky cleared up after the rain and was super clear! And the moon set before 23:00 that day, so the sky was really completely dark. The tour guide's introduction was very interesting and detailed. After introducing the southern hemisphere starry sky, he used two telescopes to see some things that are invisible to the naked eye. Finally, he will help everyone take a photo under the starry sky. We were lucky enough to take a photo of the faint Antarctic in the distance. Light. Finally, I suggest that if you want to take pictures of the stars, you must bring a tripod.
There is no shuttle bus, the location is difficult to find, and it is very secret. Don’t mistake the location of the Chinese group and the English group. The explanation teacher is professional and patient, and there are blankets, hot cocoa, stove marshmallows, and two different telescopes for stargazing. Although it rained three times that afternoon, I didn’t expect to see such a beautiful and clean starry sky at night. I was very lucky! I saw the Southern Cross, Sirius, Orion, Canis, Jewel Box, nebulae, galaxies, etc. I even saw a shooting star! Make a wish quickly (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ But the photos of our event are not posted on the website.
