Reviews summaryTour was amazing, our guide Kana was super friendly and provided all the info in advance while on the way, so when you arrive you already know what to prioritize and have a map to go around easily. tour starts early but then, when you arrive, is not that crowded which is nice. Better to follow her recommendation and go to the observatory first, when I went after arrival was almost empty but one hour later it was super full and it continued like that the rest of the day. Lunch was great and nice opportunity to try a traditional lunch. Both places were honestly breathtaking and we were super lucky to have a super sunny day. Bus was also great and it honestly felt nice to not have to check 10 times the public info for transport to make sure I was going in the right direction :) . Overall I think the experience is definitely worth it if you are in the area!
We had an amazing day discovering Kanazawa and the surrounding Japanese villages. Our guide, Kuroda, who has over seven years of experience, was incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and attentive—truly one of the highlights of our one-week trip to Japan. He made everyone feel comfortable throughout the day, even during lunch, and generously shared helpful travel tips along with fascinating insights into the region’s history and geography.
We couldn’t book any of the more affordable tour agencies, so we had no choice but to go with this one that cost twice as much. At first, we were worried after seeing reviews mentioning a very simple lunch and difficulties finding the meeting point, and we were afraid the trip would be ruined. But it turned out to be such a satisfying experience—we had a perfect day! 1. The tour guide was of much higher quality than those from the cheaper agencies. His English was quite good, with hardly any Japanese accent. He was polite during the explanations, spoke at a comfortable pace and tone, and gave concise, focused information. Occasionally, he added some warm, personal stories, which made the whole tour really enjoyable! 2. The bus was very comfortable and even had WiFi. We were also able to store our luggage, which was super convenient since we had to catch another ride right after the tour! 3. Lunch was plentiful! Just like in the photos. Our foreign friends were very satisfied! For a tour at this price, the lunch exceeded our expectations. 4. We were lucky to see the snowy scenery under clear skies. The timing at each spot was just right. There was no traffic either on the way there or back, and we even arrived 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. It was absolutely perfect! 5. By directly using the Google Map link provided in the pre-departure notice, we were able to accurately locate the meeting point. A huge thank you to the tour agency and the tour guide—your service was truly amazing!
White Ring Tour group has a superstar team! This is my second time visiting the same listed destinations except from a different departure city and the experience this time round was a 5 star! Both guides were super informative about each destination and they took great care with sharing tidbits of information that are very helpful. The lunch was truly an authentic experience and very exclusive to the tour group. Size of the tour group was a comfortable number and seats on the bus are actually assigned which made things very organized and orderly. Plenty of time assigned for self-exploration. Highly recommended and will join any tour organized by the White Ring group!
My wife and I just got married and wanted to experience the country side of Shirakawago and the heritage of Hida-Takayama. We’re fortunate enough to get seats in the front row of the bus. The incredible scenery and changing leaves in the fall by themselves would have easily been enough, but what took this over the top was the exceptional hospitality of our guides. They provided the perfect balance of historical education on the bus while allowing us to experience each destination in a unique way. The restaurant in Shirakawago was extremely unnexpected and delicious. I highly recommend skipping the observatory and experiencing the city. I also highly recommend trying the world famous pudding in Shirakawago and the famous Hida beef in Takayama! Can’t thank our amazing host/guides enough! Truly life changing! Btw, we took these photos ourselves on our phones, enjoy!
We truly enjoyed the trip. The view in both areas are spectacular and breathtakingly beautiful. The guide speaks fluently in both Japanese & English. He has a sense of humour and gives very clear instructions. We were given our own free and easy time to experience and enjoy the view. It would have been even better if the trip to Gokayama were a lil longer by 30-40 minutes. Overall, it's a wonderful journey. Lunch was amazing.
Definitely recommend checking out these mountain villages when visiting Japan! The bus tour made it so easy and we had more than enough time to explore. The guides were super sweet and knowledgeable!!
Our local guide was excellent, and the overall experience was very comfortable. The places we visited were explained in great detail. Lunch was a unique experience, served in a 300-year-old gassho-zukuri house, and the food was delicious. It was a truly special experience. We also had the chance to try the famous Shirakawa-go pudding this time! Not having to worry about lunch or transportation made this a perfect trip to enjoy with family or a partner.
Quality service, like 99% of things in Japan. The meeting point is exactly as shown on the map at Kanazawa station; you'll find "Group bus parking area" in the signage. The bus is called White Ring and arrives a few minutes before departure. Shirakawago is like stepping into a fairy tale; it's definitely worth half a day. Lunch could be more generous in quantity; for example, we ate something extra while exploring, but it's absolutely negligible. I recommend visiting Kenroku-en Garden in the afternoon, which is equally incredible. In conclusion, I recommend this trip also because going there independently could be difficult with transportation... the buses are not very clear to organize. With this service, however, you do everything comfortably and without risks/worries.
Highly recommend this tour it was a fabulous day. Easy to find the pickup point and the whole trip went smoothly. The weather wasn’t so good which meant there were only 9 of us on the tour, which was great for us. The guide was fantastic he was very friendly, knowledgeable and made everyone feel welcome. a delicious lunch was included.
