Guide
Kenrokuen Garden was a representative garden of feudal lords during the Edo period, and was created over many years by successive feudal lords of Kaga. Located in the center of Kanazawa City, this garden is loved by many prefectural residents and tourists from all over the world as a garden where you can enjoy the beauty of each season. Kenrokuen is a garden that was comprehensively created by incorporating elements of the "Meiyu-style" garden while also making full use of gardening techniques from various eras. A meandering style garden is not a sit-down style garden that can be enjoyed from the temple's hojo or the palace's shoin, but rather a garden that makes the most of the land's size, with a large pond, an artificial mountain, and a scattering of pavilions and teahouses that can be admired while stopping by. There are several ponds and curved waters that connect them, and because the mountain is built with dug earth and a variety of trees are planted, it is also known as an "artificial mountain, forest spring, and meandering garden"
