Menoreh Village Cycling in Nanggulan with MOANA Bike Tour

It was so great. The experience of traveling around a rural village with an agricultural tradition, greeting and interacting with people was very special. During the rainy season, the rice grows enough, and if you time it right, you can visit during the harvest season. It was nice to be able to peacefully look around the lives of the residents and the various parts of the village. I also watched the process of making tempeh and tasted traditional drinks and snacks. It was a new experience. The bicycle is also very sturdy and good. Before departure, the managers thoroughly check and take care of the bicycle's safety condition. However, even if it is cloudy in the morning, it quickly gets hot, so you need to pay attention to this. You may sweat a lot, so it is good to bring extra clothes if necessary. Apply plenty of sunscreen before you come. Since it is a 3-hour tour, if you have sensitive skin, it is recommended to reapply during breaks. Even if it is cloudy, it is a place where the sunlight is harsh.

A beautiful cycle through the rice fields and canals with views of Mt Merapi in the background. We learned a lot about the local area and customs (and rice!) with stops to see tempeh making and snacks/drinks. Straightforward Grab ride to get to and from the location - would recommend!

The cycling tour was a highlight for our family. I signed up with my 12 and 14-year old daughters. Our guide, Astrid, shared a great deal of knowledge about the harvesting of rice, culture, and modern history. Her English is very fluent. The tour included a snack at the end that tohu, soya milk and jamu. We were happy that our dietary restrictions were taken into account.
