Miyako Island Sea Turtle Snorkeling Half-Day Experience (Okinawa)

Yuri was our guide, and honestly, he made the whole experience! Super friendly right from the start, and his energy was so warm and reassuring, especially for beginners like us. We felt completely safe the whole time. We were in a small group, which we really liked, it made everything feel more personal. What really stood out was how hard he worked to get us great photos. He'd dive down several feet, hold his position, and blow these big bubble rings just to frame the shot. The water depth was perfect too, shallow enough that we could hover right over the coral and watch all the fish doing their thing with zero effort. There were other people swimming around, but Yuri made it easy to spot him and regroup whenever we needed. We’re so happy with the experience!

Being January, the middle of winter, I was worried about the cold and hesitated, but I chose this tour and it was absolutely perfect! I received kind instructions via email and WhatsApp the day before the tour, and they provide all snorkeling equipment (mask, wetsuit, diving boots, and short fins), so all you need to bring is a swimsuit and towel. We met at the 2nd parking lot of Shigi beach, put on wetsuits, moved to the beach, listened to some precautions, and then entered the water to put on the remaining equipment. After receiving the meticulous service of providing anti-fog medicine for the snorkeling mask, the tour begins in earnest! The underwater environment is clear and clean, so you can enjoy it with a clear view!! I was able to spend a fun and happy time meeting sea turtles and tropical fish like Nemo while listening to the kind and passionate guide Mayu's skilled leading and guidance!!! In particular, guide Mayu showed great activity with excellent English skills and constantly checking the safety of the group, as well as leaving wonderful memories with amazing underwater photography, and it was a perfect experience with the added consideration of providing warm water after the tour!!!! From the WhatsApp communication before the trip to the equipment provided on-site, we could feel the shop's dedication. We brought our 4-year-old and 6-year-old children to the 10:30 AM session. Our instructor, Mayu, was very professional and attentive, allowing us to explore freely in a safe environment. We were so lucky to see beautiful coral reefs and two sea turtles! This was our family's first time snorkeling together as a family of four. Even though we anticipated that our two children would be hesitant to get in the water, the staff thoughtfully prepared wetsuits and snorkeling masks for them. We were incredibly lucky to have Mayu ❤️ as our guide. She was truly cheerful and considerate, constantly encouraging my older daughter to try on the snorkeling mask. She also held onto both of my daughters, allowing my husband and me to snorkel peacefully behind them. Throughout the snorkeling trip, she continuously chatted with the children, and even though they couldn't respond, we could feel Mayu's genuine kindness. We are truly grateful to her. I wholeheartedly recommend experiencing snorkeling here if you visit Miyakojima. The ocean is incredibly clean and beautiful, teeming with fish and diverse marine life. That day, we even saw a giant sea turtle and many other sea turtles all around us – it was truly magical! Mayu also took us to see Nemo's home, which was so much fun! I hope parents with children absolutely do not miss this excursion, and if you can have Mayu as your guide, you'll be even luckier! Although the children didn't get into the water, with Mayu's help, they still saw many sea turtles, and some even surfaced to breathe right in front of them – what an amazing sight! The water is crystal clear, and I was so lucky to see Nemo and a calm sea turtle on my first snorkeling trip – it was like a dream! The fish playing around underwater were super cute. The guide was amazing! So patient with beginners, attentive, repeatedly checking on us, and taking photos for us. The sea of ​​Miyakojima was really beautiful! The guide was also really kind. I especially liked how he took great pictures of sea turtles and Nemo. I recommend the blonde-haired guide named Mashi. Very easy to communicate with the staff, lovely experience. We saw one turtle, Nemo, and many other fishes. The weather wasn’t the best, but the tour guide still managed to make the experience worth it!
