What To Expect

Immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature within the urban ecosanctuary of Zealandia. Spanning 225 hectares in Wellington, this is one of the world's largest conservation projects aimed to turn back time and the damage created by human settlement, restoring the land back to its flourishing native flora and fauna. Although an estimated 500 years are needed before it can be fully restored it to its original state, the sanctuary has already reintroduced six species of birds which have not been seen for the past 100 years. You'll feel one with nature as you walk or bike around the forests and valleys of this piece of paradise. Visit and learn about the unique bird life, such as the iconic kiwi bird. To pair with your daytime experience, see the urban sanctuary at night by torchlight with a guide, where you'll hear the evening birdsong now saved from extinction.

Lovely place to visit. Very quiet and peaceful. Water is crystal clear and tempting. A nice way to spend the afternoon..

Nature in a setting that has been hardly touched by people is always worth seeing. The woods, the water, the swimming, It is visually beautiful, regardless of the season. Each has its own beauty. It was all a great day out in the park for a hike.

This time, I was very professional in the tour guide. I stayed in the park for more than 2.5 hours. I explained the whole process carefully and let us see the wild birds, squid and three kiwi birds! Although it depends on luck, it is really worthwhile to get close to the natural environment! The kiwi is a nocturnal bird. It will only come out for food after the night, so it is highly recommended that everyone participate in the night tour! I went in the winter of July. I have a cool night, so be careful!

Zealandia is really beautiful. Although the general route can be completed in an hour or so, I spent a total of four hours in it and I was very comfortable to stop and go. I bought a ticket for the day. However, this ticket does not contain any guides and lectures on the website. I can only enter the ticket. When the ticket is presented to the clerk, they do not know how to use the ticket. for a while. The next time I should not buy tickets again, it would be nice to buy tickets directly on site.

Beautiful forests spread out in vast areas. There are mysterious and cute lives in the forest. Especially if there are so many birds. It was a good place to feel the mystery of nature. I also had a shuttle service.
