Hiroshima Historical Walking Tour - Why A-Bomb was Dropped

Thomas was a wonderful tour guide. He was very informative and easy to talk to. I would have liked to hear more information about the military base in Hiroshima, but I understand there was a lot to cover! This was one of the highlights of my trip to Hiroshima. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and presented the history in a thoughtful, balanced, and respectful way. The tour provided much more context than simply visiting the Peace Memorial Park on my own, helping me understand not only what happened on August 6, 1945, but also the events leading up to it and the city’s remarkable recovery. The pace was perfect, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and reflect at each stop. I left with a much deeper appreciation for Hiroshima’s history and the resilience of its people. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hiroshima, whether it’s your first visit or you’re interested in learning more about one of the most significant events in modern history. It’s well worth the time and money.

We had a fantastic tour with Emi. Some truly monumental events took place in Hiroshima, and Emi was exceptionally skilled at communicating this. It was a hot day, and she was also thoughtful in offering water and restroom breaks along the way, as well as providing several recommendations. We also learned more about Japanese food culture and much more in just 2.5 hours. Don't miss out on this tour, it is highly recommended.

A brilliant tour! Kevin is extremely knowledgeable and offers endless insights about not just the recent history of Hiroshima but of the centuries of fascinating political, economic and religious developments in Japan. Our guide Thomas was very knowledgeable and answered all questions on the tour with ease. we went to one of the okinanamiyaki restaurants he recommended too and it was delicious 😋 Would absolutely recommend him as a tour guide anywhere! 5 stars 👌🏼

Kevin was the best guide to take us through Hiroshima. He had very insightful sharing and was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the city. He even looked up the ferry schedule for us to visit Miyajima island when we mentioned offhand we were interested.

Overall a great walking tour. It was appropriately paced, and adjusted to group the dynamics and interest. It's challenging to represent historic areas and districts when most of true historical sites that you visit are less than 80 years old for the most part. The tour minimized time in direct sun as much as practical, utilized shaded locations as much as possible, and had periodic cooling stops. Information was well presented and Thomas was available for more detailed conversation during the stroll(s) from location to location. Greatly appreciated some of the side bar conversations about cultural and geo-political observations and topics from non-biased historical perspective.
